  1. As opposed to bouncing it home? Yeah. That's the point. Ronny's not trying to 8 hop it to the plate, but you're supposed to keep it low rather than overshoot it. You can always pick a ball that bounces, you can't do anything with a throw that goes over your head. I don't think Sutcliffe was saying he should've airmailed the ball. He's just saying that you gotta make sure the ball lands in Barrett's glove without rolling there.
  2. What the hell happened to Zambrano? He's flat out sucked this year.
  3. As opposed to bouncing it home? Yeah.
  4. Someone piss on Jacque's hands. Please.
  5. There's no reason Neifi should ever start at second base.
  6. Personally I think the contract year stuff with Maddux is kind of ridiculous. I think his improved performance due to his offseason workouts is a matter of self pride. Maddux was not satisfied with his performance the last couple of years and he did something about it, not because of it being a contract year. Maybe, maybe not. His agent has been all over the place talking money and possible destinations, so that sort of hints at the contract year concept. When/where has Boras been doing that? I haven't seen anything.
  7. I thought it was a cool stadium. I love how the stadium has the opening in center field that allows you to see... a parking garage. No, but seriously the view of the Arch and the Millenium hotel is really cool. I was surprised and happy to see the escalators. The beer was 8.25 which I think is more expensive than it was in the old Busch. The ushers and vendors were all very pleasant. The Cubs lost the game I was at, but it was still a fun experience. Nice stadium, I'm looking forward to going back in a couple months.
  8. It's great to see Greg pitching like the Maddux of old. I don't expect him to keep his ERA around 1 all year, but I do expect more successful outtings from him and an overall great year.
  9. I'll be watching this game with my girlfriend's parents and brothers... all die hard Cardinals fans. Oh joy. I do think that Williams will have another nice outting. I've been very high on him for awhile now.
  10. Are we all just assuming that Walker is going to start at first, or has that been announced by the Cubs?
  11. And I still don't understand how statistical proof is silly. BK showed that Lee as great as he was last year was only 65 runs better than the average hitter. That's less than 1/2 a run per game the Cubs lose. I'm sorry, you can show me all the numbers you want to, but I'll never believe that losing a player of his caliber for 2 months is only going to cost us 2 games. I respect you and BK's opinions, but that's just absurd in my eyes.
  12. Are the tickets still available? I realize it's kinda late notice, but let me know. Thanks. Sorry, they sure aren't.
  13. I'm sure this has been brought up, seeing as how this thread is at 6 pages now, but... there's no way that Lee's injury will only cost us 1-2 wins. That's just silly.
  14. I'm gonna go start drinking the pain and anger away.
  15. I wouldn't trade Prior for Dunn straight up, let alone if we also included Pie in the deal.
  16. Why are you assuming the Cubs wont make a deal?
  17. I don't have to fly out there. Sweet, you can pick me up from LAX and we'll go pay Furcal a visit.
  18. Does anyone else want to fly to LA and beat the crap out of Rafael Furcal?
  19. Do you really think that we might be able to contend with Lee out this long? I sure don't, and I'm one of the most optimistic Cubs fans around.
