  1. We've theorized that it is because Mateo had just hit Clemens, and was due up 3rd in the 6th-and so Dusty was worried about a retaliation hit. Theriot went up instead, and Clemens promptly hit him. I think that's pretty stupid. Who cares if he was going to be hit? It's part of being a pitcher in the major leagues. Only Dusty.
  2. I may have missed it (haven't read the whole game thread), but why was Mateo taken out after just 78 pitches through 5 innings with a WHIP of 1?
  3. Wait a second... did Dusty really just do a double switch with 2 outs and the bases empty?
  4. Don't blame Weurtz..blame Dusty who kept him in the game. What do you mean by kept him in the game? He faced what, three batters? It's not Dusty's fault that Wuertz couldn't get people out.
  5. It won't be long before Dusty plays the "we owe it to the other contending teams to play our best players" card. :x Too bad Dusty doesn't know who the best players are.
  6. 95 million dollar payroll and we have all of the following players in our starting lineup tonight: Pagan (hitting 3rd, wtf?), Blanco, Cedeno, Izturis, Mabry, Mateo. Seriously... 95 million dollars and this is what we get?
  7. There aren't that many things that are better than Sundays during football season. I can't wait for the season to start. Watch for Stephen Jackson to have a ridiculous year. Go Rams!
  8. Hendry has said repeatedly that he wanted Furcal AND Pierre.
  9. I've never understood why he's so popular. I don't dislike him by any means, but I don't see what's so endearing about him.
  10. Hendry took a chance on him, and it obviously didn't work out. At this point, just let him continue to pitch in the minors. He had better not step foot in Wrigley this year.
  11. What does Baker have against Murton? Seriously, what the hell?
  12. I give him 45 seconds before he refers to Senator Mitchell as "dude."
  13. Uh Dusty, I looked it up. Hanley Ramirez never even played in AAA. He shot up straight from AA ball you idiot. Mike Jacobs got 96 at-bats in AAA and hit .177 in 2004. He spent all of last year at AA before being called up. Kill me now. That's hilarious. As soon as I read the words "look it up" I just knew that Dusty would be wrong. I got a good laugh out of those quotes.
  14. Why do you hate them? I could tell you why he hates the White Sox. He had some anti-White Sox blog last year. He used to post there under a different name, but he says all the same things. One reason was that there was some Sox fan at his high school (New Trier) that he hated and the other was that he used to post on southsiders.net, which is a small-time White Sox message board. I guess they banned him and it was the mortal wound of his life because after that he went on a real rampage, trolling all the Sox message boards, kicking his blog into overtime, trolling non-White Sox boards with anti-White Sox messages, encouraging people to spam and troll the southsiders.net board, etc. He'd report his anti-White Sox activities on his anti-Sox blog (which is gone now). A lot of it was funny to read, particularly his defense of his activities (White Sox fans are bad because they hate the Cubs obsessively, so he hates the White Sox obsessively)and his theory that MLB is conspiring to keep the Cubs from ever winning the World Series. A little too much time on your hands? If you're implying that I might have made this up, I can assure you that's not the case. viewtopic.php?t=22103 This thread contains an encounter I had with the person I am talking about. If that person is not the same person who now posts as CubsBullsBears then I apologize for my mistake. Recalling that conversation as well as some of the things said here as well as what I remember from that blog (for example, calling Carlos Lee "El Horso" or claiming that Mark Buerhle tried to murder Travis Hafner), I simply put 2 and 2 together. I wasn't implying that you made it up. I was stating that you have too much time on your hands. And the fact that you dug up a thread that's over a year old is more telling of that. And a bit creepy as well.
  15. Did you see in the Trib about Z asking if he could play LF? :) Did he really? That's awesome. Was he serious about it?!

  17. That isn't how it works, at all. 9.5 games back may not seem like a large number, but it is compounded greatly by the fact that there are eleven teams in front of the Cubs. The fact that three of those eleven, not counting St. Louis, which makes it four (out of twelve, that's 33%) are from our own conference make it just about as impossible as impossible can be that the Cubs can make the postseason. What do you mean that's not how it works? Prior to tonight's games, I said that if the Cubs won their next 4, they could FEASIBLY be 5.5 games out. And... well, that was true. Of course, the Reds won so that no longer can be said, but it was 100% accurate at the time.
  18. dream on there kiddie........ Huh? I'm teasing you about your idea of making enough money scalping to pay off your loans... Ohhhh. Definintely not enough to pay them off. God I wish. But if Cards fans want to help me increase my monthly payments, then who am I to stop them?
