  1. I'm a traditionalist and I'd love to see some teams contracted or added and just two leagues AL and NL and one division in each. They play each other the same amount of times and the top 4 teams go. This gaurantees the top teams will go to the playoffs. Stl 70-41 Atlanta 64-48 Houston 60-51 Florida 57-52 Wash 58-53 Phil 58-53 Mets 57-54 SD 56-55 Mil 56-56 Cubs 54-57 Ariz 54-59 LA 50-61 Cin 49-62 SF 48-62 Pitt 47-65 Colorado 41-69 Florida @ Stl and Houston @ Atlanta
  2. It's a physical depiction of our enormous brain capacity. Now I could see how someone could find the term "Hoosier" to be offensive. Hell, I grew up in Indiana, and I don't even like being referred to as a Hoosier. :P Why is it that most the people in Indiana don't even know what the word Hoosier means?
  3. After a few Boilermakers it might feel like you have a huge cranium.
  4. NO TRADE CLAUSE. You don't think Wood would waive his no-trade clause to go to Texas?
  5. My question is how do you stop a 79-83 team from winning one of the 4 divisions? I don't think it's fair that a second place team could win 100 games and not go to the playoffs while the 79 win team does.
  6. Let Macias and the savior continue to play and see how it improves the Cubs draft postion in 2006! You have to look for the positives and this is what I have came up with. Dusty...you're the man! What pick would the Cubs get if they stay where they are in the standings?
  7. What list is that...the DL? :D Is Williamson signed for next year? Yes, he got the same deal as Dempster did and the Cubs hold an option on him for next year, I can't remember the amount but I think it was $500,000. this year with a option for 2 million next year? or maybe 1 million, not sure. The rehab guys are working out pretty well. Let's hope Baker doesn't decide to pitch Willy everyday like he did Fox.
  8. I'd love to see Wood traded but his value is way too low right now.
  9. What list is that...the DL? :D Is Williamson signed for next year?
  10. I can't speak for others but my feeling is the kid is hitting 400 and has a 500 OBP so let him get a chance to prove he does or doesn't belong. The Macias types have already proved that they stink so let Murton play for the rest of the season and see what happens.
  11. I want Macias to stay in CF for as long as possible and watch the villagers get more and more restless each day.
  12. IMO every generation thinks that they did it the right way. I remember reading about older players complaining during Sandbergs time that they did it the right way and that the current generation of players didn't have what it takes. Same story different decade.
  13. It really depends on the circumstances and how the game has developed and how the bases got loaded in the first place. Having a plan is a good thing but being able to adjust it according to how the game flows is even more important IMO.
  14. Maybe Moriotti can get traded to the NY Times instead.
  15. And where did these players get the Cubs? They are below the Brewers now, you have to move them all. As for Nomar, I'd move him now. I know he couldn't have been moved earlier but he is auditioning for other teams right now and it's the Cubs chance to get some value because I doubt they will offer arbitration for him and will get nothing for him. You have to trade something that has value and if Burnitz has value, move him. The Cubs can always get another average corner OF in the off season if they like Burnitz production. I think my post came off as though I was advocating keeping them all. Walker is the only one on the list that I would have been upset to see leave. All I was doing was pointing out the reasons why they weren't, whether or not they were the right reasons. I think because Walker is cheap and has value the Cubs should move him. I think this team needs an overhaul and Walker IMO would bring in a decent prospect or 2 if Hendry works it right.
  16. Wood should have this "procedure" done soon. Waiting too long to make decisions is what is killing this team.
  17. Aggreed, and aside from Nomar, and cpattt we would've been better off releasing the rest on that list. Since these guys are part time starters for the Cubs why would they be worthless to other teams? Unless Hendry and Baker are the worst in MLB at their jobs other teams may have an interest in them because for some reason they are on the Cubs. Move CPatt to the Angels Nomar to the White Sox

  19. Hendry had his chance for the second year in a row to make this team better at the deadline but chose to "tweek" an average team with a below average manager. Now, it's going to be tough to get these players through waivers and move them and he should do ASAP. Trade: CPatt Nomar Burnitz Perez Macias Walker Hollandsworth And most important of all fire Baker. If you can't do this Mr. Hendry it may be time for you to leave as well.
  20. I blame Baker and Hendry for this not the players. Macias and Perez were never that good and for them to be put in this situation proves that Baker has no clue and if they (Baker, Macias,Perez) remain Hendry should leave the GM post as well. I'd keep Perez as an extra Inf but no way ever should he get the PT he has been getting. I'd just release Macias unless the Cubs get enough talent so he wouldn't play more than once every 2 weeks.
  21. Grissom is just what the Cubs need to get better. Maybe if the Cubs get enough washed up 35 and older players they can finally reach that ultimate goal of becoming the unlovable losers that they seem to be striving for.
  22. I.....I....I....just just don't know how to answer that. It's no longer worth my time.
  23. Hendry should have moved the vets when he had a chance. I'm curious, if Perez and Macias are so valuable why not see what worth they have in the open market? Maybe they can save another team from despair like they did the Cubs. I agree that Wood should get the surgery done ASAP so he will be ready for 2006.
  24. Me either. I've went through some horrible seasons but this feels like I have my arms tied behind my back. Baker just makes this too hard to enjoy the game in any way, shape, or form.
  25. We need them for the stretch dude, there's nothing to be worried about. I think Dusty has a future as one of these new bleeding heart educators who care more about not hurting a kid's feelings than preparing them for the world. It's not Little League anymore. It's time to get rid of Baker.
