  1. I think Hendry did well on the Perez and Nevin trades. Yeah, the Perez deal was amazing. Still don't know how we pulled that one off. I think that's what happens when you have an injury and no back ups...a little desperation. I think Infinte (sp) is a better player so Detroit definately overpayed for a backup.
  2. I think Hendry did well on the Perez and Nevin trades.
  3. Then you must be rooting for Syracuse because they are not in the top ten....I have no idea why. Wow...no Illinois guys out there, just basketball fans, eh? You're the 3 point favorite so far. If both teams play like they did last week, Cuse will win by 2 TD's. That is, if they can actually score 2 TD's... I wonder if they could score if the other team forgot to put their defense out there! I see a lot of improvement and some very good things out of the players. We are just starting to get kids to come here again so it won't be long before we're in the top 25 again, I'd say 2 years.
  4. That's what happens when you park in Al Davis's parking spot. Are you serious? Yes. I thought you were kidding! Way to go Al!!!!
  5. I don't know, that's why I put the ?. I should have just asked like you did to avoid confussion. I think they're both just arby eligible. I hope I'm right, but I have a feeling that only Pagan will be with us next year. Back to your original post... Mabry -- 1 / 750K Blanco -- 1 / 1.5M Ramirez -- 5 / 65 (Cubs) Pierre -- 4 / 36 Wood -- 1 / 3 + incentives (Cubs) Miller -- 1 / 2.5 (Cubs) Wow...shame on me, I forgot about Wood. I think your Woody deal is about right and very heavy on the incentives. I'm curious if those incentives are going to be as a starter or reliever or both. I think the Rangers are going to go after him big time. Do you really think the Cubs will resign Mabry?
  6. I hope that Pierre and Ramirez are not a package deal. I'd love to have Ramirez back but not so much with Pierre. How much are they going to get? i think Ramirez gets 5/65 from Hendry-no way Jim lets him go anywhere- Pierre i think wants to stay and will probably give a "discount" to stay- maybe 3/22.5? he made 6m this year so a raise and stability in Chicago may make him happy- someone will pay 9m a year for him somewhere-maybe he stays here for 7 a year-hope not but oh well. if Hendry does sign him he has to start shopping Jones - I think Pierre wants to shop around just like Ramirez. Leadoff guys like him are over valued and I think he could get a pretty penney out in the market and since Wrigley has 2 foot high grass he might want to search for less greener pastures. I also think this is his last chance for a big deal and that is going to play a big part in his decision.
  7. To the casual fan (ie people that go by traditional stats and listen to BBTN analysts) losing Pierre is just as bad as losing Ramirez. When I listen to opposing teams' radio guys on XM they universally priase Pierre and believe the Cubs "have" to bring him back. Evidently, there must be a secret 7th place that only people "in the game" know about. I think Pierre has his value as an 8 hitter in a good lineup but not as a leadoff 7 million dollar guy.

  10. He saw how well TO did last year and sees it as a way to be traded.
  11. I think Pierre will get a 4 year 30 M and Ramirez will get a 5 year 67.5 and both not with the Cubs. What other Cubs are free agents? Bynum, Mabry, Blanco and Pagan?
  12. No way, man! He's second in the AL in fielding percentage! And since he's hitting well I see a gold glove coming in 2006....darn, Jeter is in the AL so there goes that theory. :^o
  13. Childress wins a close game....something Tice couldn't do. Maybe not challenging someone to fight near the end of the game had something to do with it.
  14. I root for Michigan because of their running back Mr. Hart.
  15. Don't worry, he was probably scolded after the game... Speed guys don't clog bases. Please refer to your Dusty manual Section 7 Article 3.
  16. Hey!!! I like Scotts optimisum! I need to see those types of posts before I lose my mind.
  17. Then you must be rooting for Syracuse because they are not in the top ten....I have no idea why. Wow...no Illinois guys out there, just basketball fans, eh? You're the 3 point favorite so far.
  18. Nice job by Bynum yesterday, I hope he keeps it up.
  19. well...if he tries, then i don't mind that he's not very good. as long as he tries. To answer the first part I think Baker was talking about his work ethic and also the fact that he is healthy. He lets the first pitch go by and then swings at the rest. The problem is pitchers aren't worried about throwing strikes to him because they know he can't do any damage power wise. It's absolutely foolish to walk him, it's like pitching to a pitcher.
  20. That would be nice. The Cubs would then kick Hendry to McPhails old spot though.
  21. I think Hill is going to have a tough time today. I'd like to see the offense step up for him today though and win a come from behinder.
  22. It's too bad Rusch isn't starting too because the bleachers would be full of souvenir HR balls. Sorry, they throw those back...well the first pick would be a lock then.
  23. The word that I've heard is that Toronto is going to up their payroll in 2007. $100 million is the current rumour. And don't get me wrong, I love Wells... but he's not worth Barrett. Especially considering the fact we could probably get him for Izturis, Pie, and a live arm. Why give up one of the top players at his position for Wells when you can divest yourself of Izturis for the mere cost of an exceptionally talented, but far from sure thing prospect? I don't see Toronto wanting Izturis back. I think it would take 2 very good pitching prospects and Pie. Have you looked at their middle infield situation? The Cubs have a bad middle infield, but Toronto's puts it to shame. Hill is better than anything the Cubs have and he can play SS or 2B. Adams has struggled and McDonald is a below average player I grant you but getting Izturis wouldn't be a thing Toronto would do to make themselves better. Remember, Riccardi is way more of a OBP guy than Hendry is.
  24. Can he actually be worse on defense than Barrett? He did heat up hitting wise and did quite well.
