  1. At least the parking isn't citi as it's one of the easiest stadiums to find a parking place.
  2. Did Lou actually say anything?
  3. Bradley 13-25 from 3. That's the thing about that shot, if it falls you have a good chance of winning. I think I'll like your Big East talk much more during basketball season. At least the Good Old Boys don't decide who gets to play for the championship in basketball. Regarding ND in the Big East, I want them out if they don't play at least 2 BE teams in football and I've been on record saying how much I dispise this 16 team thing even though I'd like to know how the other confernces feel about it since they have 3 to 4 more teams in football. They can't cry about it in basketball and be happy about it in football.
  4. Count me surprised. I thought Arkansas was jumping ND for sure. ND is 5 in the human poll and 5 in the puters. Arkansas is 6 in the humand and 9 in the puters. Thats where they get em. Rutgers is #2 in the puters ahead of OSU. The coaches poll has Rutgers as 8 too and that killed them in the BCS. The polls have made Florida way too high in the BCS. Thanks good ole boys.
  5. Remember that one year Manny hit 40 homeruns? Because, of course, anyone who uses steroids becomes a superstar slugger. The Alexander types are the only ones that MLB ever catches. Rafael Palmeiro I really think he was too dumb or ignorant to get away with it.

  7. I did start another thread about it! I think with all the one loss teams it's going to be one hotly contested topic. I'm just fighting for the right for the BE to be considered as an equal.
  8. I'd just go with Soto and save the couple of million. Me too unless the Cubs can afford Blanco and all the other toys I want them to have.
  9. I always thought he would jump at the chance to go to Texas but I was wrong. He is a true Cub, you're right.
  10. This is something that Cuse said in last weeks thread, but i wanted to bring the discussion over here. This is one of my main problems with the polling system. Earlier in the season, Florida's wins over Auburn, Tennessee and LSU looked really, impressive (not that they still arent quality wins, just some of the shine has been taken off.) Anyway, those wins look great, so Florida is highly ranked. Now, those teams lose a few more games, and the wins don't look as good. But what can you do if Florida doesn't lose? Florida's ranking is based on the strength of those wins, and they won't fall in the rankings unless they lose, no matter if Auburn, Tennessee and LSU lose every remaining game. Now, I'm not singling out Florida here, just using them as an example. Yea, the polls fail when there is ambiguity about which team is better than another. UF-USC-Rutgers all have arguments for the #3 spot based of quality of wins/losses, but without playing eachother how do you choose? Also Arkansas can't be #3 because they shouldn't be ahead of USC, but if USC were #3 Arkansas could (and probably should) be #4 ahead of UF/Rutgers. I don't know how one can objectively choose when teams are so close. You can't unless one is undefeated. I don't think there is that much of a difference regarding all the one loss teams.
  11. I just read the contract and it said Ramirez can be a free agent after the 1st year.
  12. All of which would likely beat all the top three Big East teams pretty easily (maybe Auburn wouldn't since they're so inconsistent). Seriously, man, I like the Big East too, but you're getting a tad carried away. That's funny because I look at the polls and don't see any teams that ND beat that even got a vote. Maybe it's you that's getting carried away because I seem to be using facts and your using assumptions. Georgia Tech is in the polls. Opps, you're right. I still think any of the 3 BE teams could beat any SEC team or ND.

  14. Maybe Hendry did plan this. His lack of vision astounds me. He has to stop wasting money on B and C type players and keep or get impact ones and guess what Jim, they cost money. Why do the Cubs always have to get a discount for a player to sign there? This organization is a joke. Nice article by the way Mr. Tim.
  15. What are Florida's claims to fame? They lost to a 2 loss Auburn and beat a 3 loss Tennesse and 2 loss LSU.
  16. Well there Serena we could go to ole Ben Johnson's farm and steal some chickens to help with the cost.
  17. That's funny. You'd rather give the big money long term contract to the guy who's not as good and it 3 years older. Ramirez was the only FA worth Beltran money. And MLBtraderumors is garbage. This rumor is as valid as any of the other ones concerning Ramirez. Can you imagine Hendry finally caving in to the 6yr/$90M demand at the last minute and Kinzer telling him that it wasn't enough all the sudden? I think other reporters like Bruce will have the inside skinny on what happened. But this story, is the first to actually provide some insight on Hendry's thinking. Not that I agree with it. If that happened or not doesn't change the fact that giving Soriano a Beltran-like contract would be historically dumb. He's exactly the type of player Hendry would over pay for.
  18. Here's a quiz. What's wrong with the statement quoted above? I know it's too late already but the longer he stays the worse it's going to get.
  19. Imagine what kind of toolsy crap Hendry would get for him? Fire the GM now before it's too late.
  20. I agree and see absolutely no reason to rebuild with a GM like Hendry, none. It does not make any sense as he has had his shot and screwed it up royally. I want a GM that has a plan, a good plan on how to build a consistant winner not a consistant loser.
  21. That one guy is Wrigley Field. True. Especially in the years between Banks and Sosa.
  22. If they lose Ramirez, I'd still hope they sign Zambrano. Lee and Barrett, should be traded by Dec. 1, though. The Cubs throughout the years seem to have one guy that the fans come out to see....the Banks...Sosa's and now Z. The rest are just fillers and will always be that way. You have to have that marque guy people will come to see and have a good time while spending money.
  23. Somehow this will end up costing about $120M. Salt meet wound.
  24. I agree. It'll never happen, but it should. We've just got too many holes to fill. Hendry would be wise to fall down his stairs again around the time of the convention. It's going to get ugly. They won't blow it up. They'll do their crappy attempt at getting overpayed average players and never do the right thing. Hendry has until opening day because this whole thing isn't over yet but I see no reason to be optimistic.
