  1. to be fair, you can't blame them for all the good teams bolting frrom CUSA. Cincy, Louisville, DePaul, Marquette, Charlotte and St. Louis all had varying degrees of success in basketball, with the first four obviously being the best historically. And, schools like UTEP, USM, Tulsa and UAB, which have had decent programs in the past, really were nothing to speak about this year. Memphis won the games that it played, which is all they can do, really. What makes Memphis better than any other mid-major?
  2. I have 2 words that make me feel better....Juan Guzman.
  3. Interesting, thanks Bruce! How's that Kincade guy look so far?
  4. I wanted the Cubs to hire Lou when they hired Dusty but I admit I wasn't so keen on him this time around. It's still a long ways to go but I like what I've read so far.
  5. The only reason why Murt is hitting well is because Dusty....er Lou is guessing what game to put him in. When he plays again 7 games from now he'll do well again.
  6. Welcome to the forum! I do too. It took him awhile to get used to left last spring and he has the natural ability to handle it.
  7. Wow Truffle, no Josie Moran to pick from? What kind of fantasy is this?
  8. Playing the part of Wally Pip is Cliff Floyd. Who's Wally Pip? He's the guy that played 1st for the Yankees and got hurt. A guy named Lou Gehrig came in and never left.

  10. All right the Cubs have the lead! Now bring in Wood to pitch the last 7 innings to close it out.
  11. Did Z pick up the broken bat piece and throw it into the Angel dugout and destroy the whole team? No, he ate it. Ha....Did he say "This is what I think of toothpicks?"

  13. And you're proving that you're from the Philly area!
  14. Deja vous all over again.
  15. That's the key. You want to find someone with the knowledge to speak about it and the ability to speak about it clearly without coming off like an arrogant know-it-all. Exactly. If he or she can put into terms where the average fan can understand it and get ways how to impliment these stats the better and less threatened people will be.
  16. Any word on who will be pitching in relief after Zambrano? Will there be a Gallagher or Shark sighting? Today it looks like Howry, Cotts, Rapada, Guzman and Ohman. Saturday, it looks like Miller (starting), Dempster, O'Malley, Samardzija, Gallagher, Marmol and Anderson. Cool. Please let us know how they look when you get a chance.
  17. I doubt Payton was thinking, "I have to get rid of Joe Horn so I can prove to everyone that I can win without him." Joe Horns said it was like this: "Sean Payton thinks Sean Payton has to get rid of Joe Horn to prove Sean Payton can win on Sean Paytons own."
  18. I guess that will end the Jeff Garcia signing with Tampa rumors. Well according to the NFL Network, Plummer has retired in lieu of being traded to Tampa. So not only is there no deal, but those rumors of Garcia to Tampa are probably back on. I wonder why? TB isn't that bad of a team or area is it? They had a massive crackdown at area strip clubs a few years ago, most notably world famous Mons Venus. Maybe he's never forgiven them. So Jake needs a place to go to blow off some steam, eh?

  20. Did anyone else grimace at the last quote in that article, where he says they got the bases loaded, and they had the right guy (Ward) at the plate? Well, that is what he is supposed to do-come in during the late innings and be the main pinch-hitter in a key situation. Yep. I don't see anything wrong with Lou's quote. He had his left-handed pinch hitter who had over a 1.000 OPS against righties last year up with the bases loaded late in the game. Sounds like it would normally be a pretty good situation to me. I agree. Now Jehr...if Lou said the Cubs need better clutch hitting that could spark more of a oh no not again reponse from me.
  21. I didn't catch Rome on Sunday and I'm looking forward to it tonight.
  22. That's kind of creepy. Did she know him at all because if not this move was not a good one in any way.
  23. I don't think it's that ridiculous. He hates it in NY and NY hates him. People are saying the right thing, for now, but the Yankees would absolutely move him if they got value, and he'd absolutely accept a trade to the right situation. And the Cubs are one of the teams that could be "the right situation". The thing that bothers me is what do the Yanks have to play 3rd?
  24. Thanks for posting it. I really enjoyed reading it and I like the way Lou approaches the pre-season games.
