  1. If anyone is interested in a trip down memory lane, here's the Link to the Topic on NSBB from the trade on July 31, 2012. I started reading around page 124, got to the actual trade announcement on page 130 and read/scanned the next 8-10 pages. Definitely some interesting (hot) takes, but most seemed at least somewhat pleased with the return. A few things of note: -Just prior to the trade, the two prospects most coveted were Allen Webster (BOS) and Randall Delgado (ATL). -Cubs ended up getting Webster a few years later, and while he was a strong prospect before landing with the Cubs, he was pretty much a bust as a big leaguer. -Webster's MLB WAR is/was -2.4; Delgado's MLB WAR +2.4 -Christian Villanueva was the centerpiece of the trade. Seems like a few people mentioned Mike Olt (who the Cubs also ended up getting eventually) as the better prospect in the Rangers system. -Not a lot of love for Kyle (and ironically from poster Kyle) if he regularly throws <90 mph; but definite appreciation for his command. As we are all very aware, Kyle Hendricks was clearly the best MLB AND MiLB player in the trade. And the Cubs clearly came out on top of this deal. Dempster's MLB WAR 18.6 Webster's MLB WAR -2.4 Delgado's MLB WAR 2.4 Kyle Hendricks MLB WAR 21.3 Thanks Theo!!!!
  2. You have to listen to the call of the last out of the WS game against the Tigers. With a win, the Tigers, amazingly, clinch a playoff spot. So there's a lazy fly ball to right center. And after the catch, the WS announcer doesn't recognize the Tigers accomplishment. Rather, he goes right into a "There it is..." moment about the WS having the most losses in a single season in the history of modern baseball. And he sounded cheerful. almost proud to be not only witnessing this feat first hand, but to actually be announcing it live on air. It's comical.
  3. Funny you mention that series. They lost 2/3 to the Cubs and were 62-66. They then went on to win 6 straight and have gone 23-8 since the series loss to the Cubs.
  4. The WS have a piss-poor owner, an annoying and not very good fan base, and have historically been one of, if not the worst franchise in MLB history. I think it would be fitting for them to have the historically worse season in the history of the modern area. And since they plan on cutting payroll after the season, why not double down on the losses next year.

  6. Cody picks up Seiya (the ****** ump), 2-0 Cubs!
  7. And the Mets lead the Phillies 6-0 in the 6th. The Braves are up 5-1 over the Dodgers in the 4th.
  8. Can't they just slap that bean bag chair on his helmet?
  9. Eh, give him a chance. Hasn't even played a full season yet.
  10. Ref "fan interference", I believe the fan can play the ball as long as it's not in the field of play. On the second Edman HR, I don't think the fan reaches over the wall, unlike the last play of the game.
  11. I guess he threw 2 innings at OK City, 31 pitches.
  12. How many pitches/innings does Yamamoto get? I tried to find out if he had any rehab starts but couldn't find anything.
  13. Small sample size, but Paredes is 4 for 11 with a dinger against Schmidt. Maybe tomorrow instead?
  14. Philly's O-line still pretty dominant. As long as the O-line is healthy, they'll be good on offense. Too many weapons to not be.
  15. Unfortunately, we've been getting mostly "old' Hendricks this season. Maybe tonight we can see "young" Hendricks for 6 or so innings.
  16. Fun Fact Mastrobuoni is: -1 for 2 in his career against Jared Jones -he's 2 for 4 against Paul Skenes -he's 2 for 4 against Colin Holderman -he's 1 for 2 with a double against David Bednar. He either hasn't faced or is bad against all of Pittburgh's other pitchers. None of this really means anything.
  17. I don't know who Gavin Hollowell and Trey Wingenter are, but apparently they're on the Cubs 40 man roster. I assume one of those two get the boot.
  18. This is a good pick up for the Bears. Toure has shown some flashes in limited playing time. He and Grant DuBose (signed by Miami) were squeezed out from the Packers' WR room because they have a lot of depth (though inexperience).
