  1. they're switching ends at the halfway point. the hawks better score a bunch in the first 10 minutes then... oh wowee, the baseball channel gets a plug during the game. maybe an agreement because the game's being played at wrigley?
  2. i favored joe and i really didn't have much of an opinion on lou or anyone else. my basic opinion was "i hope it's joe, but if not joe then someone not like dusty plz". i never followed the team close enough to get on the message boards at the time (despite my join date, i went nearly 4 years from join date to first serious posts) so i had no idea lou Piniella was even a candidate.
  3. soriano- 3 hr game at cincy hoffpauir- not going after an easily catchable ball in tampa, right in front of me derosa- selling out and diving after a ball the next batter up kosuke- opening day. and not going for the score on trevor percival's wild pitch. and him taking strike 3ERRRRRRRRRRRball 4 to end that game cotts- hating his guts when he came in and promptly gave up a home run in tampa marmol- bb, hit, bb, hbp, bb pulled for... eyre- grand slam the horriffic thing is that other than opening day, i was present for all of those games. is it a bad thing that most of my memories are pretty negative?
  4. that's why. i would trade a series with the tigers for a series with the royals simply for this reason. is baseball trying to keep some teams from playing each other? like for instance toronto and tampa rather than new york and boston. i don't care how good (or bad) we or they would have been. it would have made excellent tv to have the yankees or red sox play the cubs in chicago or boston or new york. the cubs have never played a regular season game in oakland or fenway as an opponent of the red sox. coulda fixed one of those this season.
  5. where Tropicana Field would have had 20,000 Cubs fans booing the Astros aka more than attend Rays games yes, but the point is, ANY "neutral" field for this series (outside of, maybe, Arlington) would be at least 80% Cubs fans if not more how DARE you inject logic into this arguement!
  6. they played in kc for a year. i think they may have done it twice.
  7. cleveland, kansas city, detroit, minnesota when the cubs played them last, who was the home team? it may affect next year's vacation plans.
  8. i put this in rants, but it applies here too. i am surprised about the amount of venom thrown at cubs fans for having the audacity to BOO their players coming out of the dugouts to play the outfield at the beginning of both games, allegedly astro "home" games. really. i'm not going to waste my time registering for these places to straighten them out but really. what did they expect, the 40,000 cubs fans who went to both games to cheer for the astros and boo their own team? forget the circumstances- fans boo. i'm sure the cubs fans who would have made it down in houston would have done so but be drowned out by the astro fans. i know that cubs fans booed the tampa devil rays when they came out on the field and they booed dusty baker's reds when they came out on the field. i do not buy for a fact that they wouldn't boo the cubs when they came out on the field. not only do i not buy it, i would expect them to boo them when they came out on the field. i don't just limit it to cubs fans. when uofl plays cincinnati, west virginia, marquette, and most assuredly the state's more-equal-than-others university 80 miles down the road, we boo. i'm a colorado avalanche fan. we boo detroit, vancouver, and any team aquitted felon todd bertuzzi plays on. do these people expect fans of other teams to cheer their team and then quietly sit on their hands when the other team is on offense?
  9. Ha. Given the recent Wrigley North debate, that sentiment could very easily open a can of worms. i wonder about how they feel about wrigley south (atlanta) and wrigley ohio (cincinnati)?
  10. remember when the cubs couldn't win a game on the road to save their lives? the cubs have 39 road wins, second only to the angels with 43 and tied with philly and milwaukee.
  11. the cubs starting pitchers had more hits this series than the entire houston astros team  hey dreyton, how did that taste? coulda had the entire series in a place like tampa, but noooooooooooooooooooo... greedy bastage. i thought it would have been fitting for the cubs to bust out the home whites even though they were technically the road team, just to piss off houston that much more.
  12. new stadium 24 BUT i am NOT for wrigley being torn down whether or not it's on the protected list. i do want to go to one game at wrigley before the cubs no longer play there.
  13. question: if one uses the international proxy would one theoretically get the wgn tv feed?
  14. if i upgrade to the mlbtv package from gameday audio, will i still get charged for both next season as an autorenew? earlier this year the tv package was not an option, now it looks like it may be.
  15. espn is only good for cubs and university of louisville cardinal games.
  16. i'm driving up for all three games from louisville. i know that great american ballpark is wrigley ohio. anybody have any good parking spots for this upcoming series?
  17. +1. Z looks even more awesome in a blue road jersey. +1 i like the thirds in baseball. baseball needs more color in it. the home team wearing white and the road team wearing grey are boring, especially in this era of high definition digital television. i don't understand why teams don't have them. of all sports, baseball is the one that is least dependent on the color of jersey. the d-backs and astros could both wear their red alternates and it wouldn't affect gameplay any.
  18. I wonder how many people go out of their way to buy the road cap... red is my favorite color. it looks good on the hat and i have no problem with the cubs having a home and road cap. this year i finally got an official hat that fits, but its the home hat. i would get the road hat, but not too many stores carry cubs hats in size 8 however i do plan on doing so in the future. if you all hate it so much, demand that the red "C" on the cap change to a different color or come off competely.
  19. they don't deserve a franchise. we in louisville had two of our local sports teams play in dumps (coincidentally, the same facility). when our teams were good, the place sold out. let me repeat that in case you missed that. when our teams were good, the place sold out. tampa devil ray fan has no excuse not to see their team play. i hope they don't get to the series. they might luck their way into winning 4 games and their "fans" don't deserve them.
  20. the fans who were there were talking a lot of junk that i do not believe their team can cash. the fans i heard on the radio were also talking a bunch of stuff too. however whenever i see them on tv and they aren't playing the sox or yankees there is nobody there. i caught highlights of the toronto game from last night. in june that section was packed. there was no one there in that highlight. i understand filling up the stadium for a good team. i understand filling up the stadium for a bad team. i understand not filling up for a bad team. i cannot understand not filling up for one of the best teams in the american league. so to answer your question its no. i hate devil ray fans because they are front running obnoxious bandwagon fans that DON'T go to the games when the team got good AND and won't fill the park now that the team got good, unless the other team fills it up for them. the ones in the park were obnoxious. really really obnoxious. i didn't like that. then they don't pack the house for a really good team. i really don't like that.
  21. its nice to be three up on the road, but really, good teams should beat the d-backs, braves, marlins, and pirates. out of the last stretch of road games, the only one that i believe was the real pleasant surprise was the sweep in milwaukee. we got fat on bad-to-average teams. here's how i look at this. because of baseball banning the use of greenies, you are now separating the good teams from the great ones. of the playoff contending teams the cubs are now +3 on the road. the angels are +15, the brewers are +4, st. louis is +8, philly is also +3. tampa is even and everyone else is below .500. the teams that i would be worried about in the playoffs are the angels, d-rays, and believe it or not, philadelphia and in this upcoming series. overall, it has been real hard to win on the road this season. i mean come on, the reds just recently went below 500 at home and dusty baker's reds have been horrible all around. this is why i am very hesitant to face the angels or the tampa devil rays should we get that far, especially anaheim. they have been good on the road all year long.
  22. he's got a greek restraunt in new york, stavinoha beta.
  23. thanks for the hot tip. i managed to snag some REAL good seats for way cheaper than i could believe. i got 2 mezzanine level seats for $18 each and a parking pass. the best news is that i don't have to spend one dime of my money in cincinnati seeing how i am in easy driving distance.
