  1. i hit the submit button too soon. i gots more relevant stuff to add to the above. when we were leaving the game on thursday, there were a bunch of "go home cubs fans" chants. i'm like, what the h are you talking about. go WIN something in your history, a wild card, division, a division series, something other than the wooden spoon before you can talk smack. even though the last world series championship for the cubs was 100 years ago, at least we won the division the previous year and 2003 which is more than you have in your entire existance.
  2. reds have fans? you live here. i find more st. louis and cubs fans more than i find reds fans in this town at least. i think we only have the smattering of reds fans because of the bats. as soon as i get my off days confirmed, i'm looking forward to seeing wrigley ohio next week (and evening my record at cubs games. tampa, ew). speaking of tampa... i think the reverse is true. i hate tampa not because we got swept there, but because of their front running obnoxious bandwagon fans. the three games down there were packed. the recent series they had against the los angeles angels of anaheim near san bernadino in the state of california in the united states of north america on planet earth in the solar system of the milky way galaxy in the local group, in tampa, where the two best teams (record wise ) of the american league were doing battle, the place was half full on tv. that insults me as a baseball fan.
  3. homer bailey likes louisville better than cincinnati. he's on a team that won their division, has a chance of winning the international league (maybe even the bricktown showdown) and dusty baker is not his manager. he's got no shot of having a successful career in cincinnati as long as dusty is there.
  4. cinch cincinnati signing
  5. LOL, they scored 4 runs in 3 games. Unless they are telling me that future starts Bronson Arroyo and Josh Fogg are the ones that the Reds are counting on in the future. dunno if you live in an area that gets the fsn ohio feed, but yeah pretty much that's what they said.
  6. fixed if it weren't for d-ro this series we would have lost 2-3 instead of won 2-3.
  7. He struck out against the Marlins over the weekend. He also had a hit in that game. If these Reds were patient Z would be walking them all. nope, z pinch hit on saturday and i think he struck out or flied out to center.
  8. but i would argue this point- if the main purpose of the game was to make arroyo pitch to get him out of the game early, consider how many pitches he made, and then consider who his manager is. weathers in to pitch the 8th, i wonder if that's enough time to get something going.
  9. reds broadcasts tend to do that to people.
  10. lessee: cubs hate? check long periods of silence? check you sure we aren't watching the white socks broadcast here?
  11. and more importantly approaching .500 on the road. the cubs are now 2 under on the road. i know we all have been worried about hfa for the playoffs, but if the season ends with any games over .500 on the road, i feel that we really don't need to worry about that being a factor.
  12. Really, even after we pantsed them four straight games in their ballpark, against their top 4 starters? They're winning because they're playing the worst teams in the NL at home right now. yeah, all all i know is that sheets and cc are doing it old school with shutouts and complete games. hopefully that means they'll be tired down the stretch, but they are dominating major league teams right now. please stop winning, brewers. the louisville bats could probably shut out the reds right now. the reds suck that hard.
  13. they just finished a series at home with the worst team in the national league and got done with a series with the reds. i would expect any decent team to win and not lose against those scrubs either.
  14. the best outcome personally for me is a wellemeyer ND with 0 runs and a Z win. so if todd pitches 1 inning, has to leave and the st. louis bullpen implodes, it will be a good day.
  15. keep in mind that for several years on the northside, you almost could make that case. when they were in the rotation healthy: z wood prior clement could almost call that a rotation of aces. then you could move out clement and add in maddux. i think that the fanbase got a little greedy over a few years with potential rotations like that. right now i'm happy with marquis because while he isn't winning us games, he isn't losing us games either. that being said, unless the team wins the world series this year, i don't expect marquis back with the club next year. and even then it would be a 50-50 proposition he's moved.
  16. i think the wild card is coming out of the west this year in the national league. a few reasons: 1. i think that the top three teams in the east are worse than the top two teams in the central. the phils, mets, and marlins are all going to be beating up on each other. i think that unless either one of those teams has some sort epic run where they run away from the other, there may be only a gain of maybe a game on either the brewers or cardinals collectively from any of those east teams. 2. the brewers are imploding (courtesy a 4 game sweep in milwaukee where the brewers were really competitive in the first game) and st. louis has been lucky, like really lucky, this season. the injuries and the bullpen is coming back to haunt. had milwaukee not lost to the reds (and in the way they lost to them) i definitely say milwaukee's in. as it is now, i think that st. louis is going to finish the season second in the division. 3. the west is really weak and the tallest two midgets are the d-backs and dodgers. i don't think that either of those two teams are better than milwaukee or st. louis but they have the pathetic west to feast on. arizona and los angeles are 3 and 4 games behind milwaukee in the loss column. as mediocre as they both are, i think there enough wins out west to overcome the teams in the east.
  17. if clement cant even make stl's patchwork rotation, what makes you think he could beat out marquis the only reason that i brought that up is that the cubs have had some success with reclaimation projects. fox and wade (i think, correct me if i'm wrong) were busts. dempster was a hit. lieber (when he actually got the chance to pitch) is so-so. i'm not saying that clement would be a solid 3 guy like he was years ago, but at this point could anyone really be as bad as marquis now? having not paid attention to st. louis this season, was this more of a release because we have no options release, release because you suck release, or a hideo nomo situation? if it's a nomo case, he did do well after he left iowa. its a low risk move should the cubs bring him in.
  18. would anyone here be in favor of a straight substitution of marquis for clement?
  19. after the series we just had with them, i would disrespect them too.
  20. yes, yes, i know, i know. it's way to friggen early for this, but after the last three games, i am pumped up. magic number for playoffs and division = ?
  21. i think it was 2003 or 2004, opening day at cincinnati. adam dunn had a good game in left that day too. ryan braun = adam dunn?
  22. nonono i friggen hate marquette. diener. wade. crean. dean. they can all go burn.
  23. oh, that shouldn't be too hard then.
  24. we all know that not setting home field to the team that has the best record is crap. i can give clear evidence how stupid it is by using another sport as an example- hockey. in the stanley cup final, home ice is determined by number of points the team has. which means the presidents trophy winner could get upset in game 7 of the conference finals after the other team in the other conference sweeps their opponent. you know how many players are on a playoff hoceky roster? at least 20- 3 forwards*4 lines=12 2 d-men*6 pairings=6 2 goalies=2 total=20 and this doesn't count any healthy scratches, so bump that number up to 23. arranging accomodations for 23 players isn't easy especially when plans can change at the last minute, but the nhl does it and they have done it for a very long time. baseball needs to get the instructions from hockey on how to plan in advance for championship finals accomodations and get over itself.
