  1. if they have a deal with directv similar to what they have with the nhl network, those are going to be the two most watched channels on my reciever.
  2. i know that 950 am in indianapolis carried games, and even though i had a gameday subscription, i always listened to their stream because gameday sounds like the game is being broadcast through a phone line. 950's stream actually sounded like a broadcast from wgn radio (at home at least. strangely the road games on 950 sounded like gameday) come on, i know they (mlb) can do much better than that. edit: i would like to know how a station in kentucky, far southeastern kentucky at that is a cubs affiliate station when baseball pretty much considers all of kentucky reds territory. i would also like to know how i can get a station in louisville to carry the cubs. there are a large contingent of cubs fans here.
  3. ah. see i take a different belief- rather him not having the opportunity of throwing a perfect game or two down the line hurt than having the opportunity. him being down brings up some scrubs from AAA as well as the possibility of a trade including prospects weakening them more. of course if you typed that in sarcasm green, i can't tell because my browser setup is all white text on a black background.
  4. This is terrible news for the Cubs. how so? its one of those arms that st. louis fan was counting on to get them in the race this year. unless they can pry aj burnett and/or tim hudson away (which i doubt because i feel that even with a healthy mulder they needed either one of those guys just to compete with the brewers) it's great news as far as i'm concerned. the guy i feel sorry for is wellemeyer. i hope he can find his way back to the north side in his career.
  5. i am glad i was only down there for three games and then not on the weekend. further evidence that the tampa devil rays can only attract a fanbase through gimmickery and not from the product on the field. i don't know which is a bigger embarassment, the fans or the marketing department.
  6. that is of course assuming that the division is going to be won by 2 games this year. at this point, computer says no.
  7. ooh! ooh! lemme guess! one of those pitchers hasn't hurt himself in their game this week. maakmotaERRRRRRRRmark mulder was taken out of the game in the first inning against philadelphia.
  8. bigger question- will they let him wear blue because he's starting?
  9. it's gonna suck mightily to be the third of the three this year knowing that you are still a better team than 12 others and still aren't going to go to the show.
  10. i have a special name for the national league baseball team in st. louis. it is very not appropriate for this forum. i hate them more than the brewers or dirty sox. the only good thing coming out of st. louis is I-64 as far as i'm concerned.
  11. i had computer trouble so i barely picked up pat and ron on the radio. did i hear right, jim went 2-2 with a home run, 3 rbi and 3 bb? if that's the case, then i have only two words for that: jungle karma. it never fails. edmonds was on today at the start of the second hour.
  12. actually (and unfortunately), no. that isn't the case. in aaa (or at least the international league, which i can speak to) the pitcher bats in the parks of national league affiliates WHEN THE OPPOSING TEAM IS AN NL AFFILIATE AS WELL. so that means that in il city louisville, which is a very big nl town being close to cincinatti, the previous affiliate to the effing cardinals and fairly close enough to chicago and atlanta. the louisville redbirdsERRRRRRRRRRRRbats only have their pitchers bat when the indianapolis indians (pittsburgh), columbus clippers (washington), lehigh valley iron pigs (philadelphia), and richmond braves (atlanta) come to town. two of those teams are in our division so we get a lot of nl dh-free baseball, more than what richmond and lehigh valley get, but still the vast majority of our games use the dh. no international al affiliate team has their pitchers bat. please get rid of the dh.
  13. i hate to dredge up bad memories, but for games 1 and 2 in tampa, i had real good looks at the strike zone. i'm convinced that the cubs, d-rays and umpires had no idea where the strike zone was for 25 innings. a few more observations from tampa: 1. the fans are real sensitive about the sports media not saying that the team is from st. petersburg or tampa bay. they whine that the team is from TAMPA. when your team wins something significant or is good for more than more than 4% of your history, then you can cry about it. 2. tampa has some of the worst frontrunning baseball fans i have ever seen. 3. you would hear calling for more cowbell more appropriate here. at slugger field. maybe. major league teams don't call for more cowbell as a cheap gimmick. 4. the d-rays should be grateful that cubs fans from all over came and filled that dump of a stadium for three games because other than any remaining yankee and red sox games left on the schedule it's not going to get filled again. by the way, nice showing you had there friday night. sweep the cubs, the best team in baseball and follow that up with a lacklustre effort from the fans and the team against the astros of all teams. thanks tampa. thanks a whole heck of a lot. please sweep the socks tomorrow. and by sweep, i mean annihilate.
  14. the seats may be crap, but i'm going to this game and the other 2 games in the series. i wonder how many d-ray fans will be there considering 1: its the cubs 2: they were the d-rays i have noticed a lot more fans going to the dome on tv but i think that before the season cubs fans in florida snapped those things up so it may be a 50-50 split. i'll bet some season ticket holders are kicking themselves now because this is (dareisayit?) a possible world series matchup.
  15. i'm not sure how to react to that. i mean, i have a similar situation to this jackhole. todd wellemeyer is from louisville, is a university of louisville cardinal fan (the good cardinals) and is also a cubs fan. this guy is practically family. i was crushed when he signed with the evil cardinals. so do i wish him evil like this idiot does edmonds? no. i hope his career with the cardinals against the cubs is lined with good pitching performances, but all of them ND. this idiot needs to get a grip. he's still whining about gary gaetti 10 years ago? come on dude, let it go. but the real cherry on top of the cake is that jackhole cardinal fan spews all of that garbage and then (get this) TURNS OFF THE COMMENTS AND RATINGS because of (and i quote): will someone please do a response video for this idiot's desparate cry of attention to his loser team?
  16. I hope this is the way you meant it. no, that isn't the way i meant it...i have tickets to the tuesday and thursday games i have tix to the entire series. what's that pitching lineup look like now?
  17. and before anyone asks, yes i do have cookies enabled for the past 4 or 5 days, i have not stayed logged in after long periods of inactivity, this after not having to log in for months before. has there been any change in the options or the administration functions that would continually cause this?
  18. St Pete? yes this series will be my first big league game EVAR, and me and my college roommate will be staying for the entire series. kinda unsusal that we have to go 900 miles to watch our first major league game when we could go like 70 miles north and watch one there. and the cool/strange/scary part of it is, if things hold as it is now, it would be the best of both leagues going at it for three games. wonder if there will be more cub fans or d-ray fans there. but about other road trips, i am then reminded that cincinnati is barely a major league franchise. it's too bad the cubs don't get back to cincy until real late in the year otherwise i would so be there. only two more weeks. STOKED IT CAN'T GET HERE SOON ENOUGH!!! ps. what exactly is there to do in the tampa bay area? we're making a road trip out of it and we need something to do up until 7:05 eastern.
  19. i am pleasantly surprised by our goal output. the avs have scored 7 goals so far when i predicted 4. the number of games won however has been sadly accurate. here's a real big F U to calgary for choking in game 7. and if we cannot miraculously win 4 games against a team we haven't beaten since early last calendar year, here's to the stars winning their first legitimate stanley cup.
  20. wings in 4, avs score 4 goals max. i really don't like this matchup and i think it's going to go from real bad to downright ugly.
  21. go flames. i would rather dallas than detroit in the second round. i know the avs can beat dallas. i don't know if we would ever score against detroit.
  22. hey no problem. i don't question physical play. i just question physical play when the game is well out of hand. it doesn't serve anything but letting off frustrations. if the avs were beating up your players in a blowout loss i would be saying the same thing against my team.
  23. someone's upset. there is a difference between beating up your opponent down 5 in the playoffs and beating up your opponent down 1 in the playoffs. if you can't see a difference between that, then i can't really help you. again, you didn't answer my question posed above. what thuggish activities did claude lemieux participate in in playoff blowouts? one other thing, you did not see me apologize for anything lemieux did you? thuggish activity is thuggish activity no matter which team is doing it.
  24. question: for those who favor the dh or favor both leagues having one set of rules, do you then support merging both leagues and just have one league with 6 or 8 geographical divisions? it makes sense because one of the main reasons for having both leagues is because of the dh. if there is a uniform rule why bother? with no real rule preventing this how would fans feel about being in a division with the white sox, twins, brewers, cardinals, and brewers? and by the way, even though i don't watch the nfl, i don't see much of a reason to have two conferences with teams in the same region and not in the same division.
  25. apparently basic thuganomics don't work so well. despite dominating the first two periods (or so i have read. i couldn't see the game. the nhl network completely whiffs on coverage of teams in the western conference. plus it's quite crazy how the american network showing the playoffs will give preference over the series with a canadian team in the the west rather than the ones that are all american. just an observation, nothing more.) the avs came out of st. paul with a win. would have been a pretty good win on the scoreboard but for a goal by the wild at 2.5 seconds left. so now the avs have 2 shots to win 1. i think we will get this done at home because nobody wants to go back to minnesota for another game. just as i was typing this, it just came to me that the two teams have played 13 games between each other already, 6 in a row and possibly a total of 15. that's as many as some teams play others in 4 years. thanks nhl for creating such a stupid schedule.
