    After watching them today -- especially that OLine -- I'm not sure they really did. Seems like they are a little like us in that respect. They have issues up front and it doesn't look like they addressed them. Yeah the Falcons gave up too much for Julio Jones and that hurt their ability to solidify their overall team. Julio might end up being a hell of a WR but the short-term gains are not going to justify the cost of that trade. I thought the Jones pickup was perfect. They needed another speedy WR to stretch the field. But for some reason the OC didn't call anything deep all game. Wasn't that the point of giving 5 guys for Jones? Well, how often can you throw the ball deep to him if the QB doesn't have time to throw it? ;) The problem is that they needed to trade 5 guys to draft him. No speed receiver is worth that much unless the rest of your team is perfectly aligned which obviously Atlanta has other issues too.

    Personally I though the Bears OL played pretty well overall. Giving up a few sacks is almost expected with a Mike Martz offense due to the deep drops and I thought Cutler had adequate time to throw the ball more often than not. It wasn't a perfect game for the OL by any means but if they keep playing at the same level as today, I think things will be okay. Atlanta is a pretty decent pass rushing DL too from what I understand.

    This is just total and utter domination, I could not have asked for a better game so far.

    Bend, but don't break. There's a time and a place for that philosophy, but in general I hate it. The Falcons playcalling is just playing into the Bears hands...they are too conservative.

    Yep. Main disappointment on that drive was the inability to get some rushing yards. Can't keep needing to convert 3rd & long all day.

    All 5 of the NFLN guys picked Atlanta. Michael Irvin said the Bears will get embarrassed today. :roll:

    I was at the IU-BSU game last night. By the 3rd quarter I found myself wishing I was somewhere else, like a bar. #-o The offense started fast but disappeared in the 2nd half. I did like how Perez and Houston ran the ball. EWB had a decent stat line considering that he was under pressure about every time he dropped back to pass. But man oh man our defense is AWFUL. Again. :?

    NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! [-X Hell after the 2010 preseason I was convinced the Bears would do no better than 6-10. I'm actually encouraged by the play of the OL tonight and that is all I wanted out of this game. The lack of playmaking ability at WR is a concern, yes. But if the OL can keep improving then I think Martz can stitch the thing together and get some points flowing.

    I don't think the Bears FA period has been a disaster. Trading Olsen & letting Kreutz walk/retire/whatever doesn't bother me. Roy isn't the first WR on the market I would have picked but he does have positive history with Martz. Barber should be a nice compliment to Forte. The main thing that bothers me is not getting more OL help. I'd feel a lot better if Angelo had at least been able to sign one decent FA at either the guard or tackle position.

    And yes I hope Dempster dots Holliday first chance he gets. This season is a lost cause anyways so may as well get some meatball satisfaction from some basebrawl tonight. :P
