  1. Griffey singled in his first at-bat BTW. It would be fun to see him jack one out tonight. Cool, Mr Guy Who Screams at Umpires is sitting within earshot of the Reds booth evidently.
  2. Griffey Jr got a really nice pregame ceremony in Seattle tonight. Then when he made his first plate appearance, there was a runner on 1st base and the Mariners pitcher threw to first base twice before going to the plate. The Seattle crowd booed the holy hell out of their own pitcher, it was hilarious.
  3. Sticking with games I've actually attended: 1992 - Sosa hit a 2 run HR to beat the Pirates in the bottom of the 11th inning at Wrigley to cap a 3 game sweep and bring the Cubs to within 3.5 games of first place in late June. It didn't last but walking out of the park that day felt like walking on air. Quite a nice game, the Cubs rallied from 4-0 down tying the game on a 2 run blast by Ryno that left the park and bounced down a side street. Also got to see pre-HGH/roids Bonds hit a home run. Also, I saw home runs #50 and 51 in 1998 against Houston in the game where Lima got accused of grooving pitches. :D And I think I recall seeing Sammy go deep on the Rockies in a game around 1996 or so.
  4. I guess with my username it is fairly obvious that I will cheer. Not gonna go crazy or anything but I would definitely let out a WOOT or two. But yeah, I'd much prefer it to be part of a Cubs blowout victory. I'm not losing sight of what's important here. 8-)
  5. why are you so intent in defending young? I'm not defending Young, I'm just looking at it from an objective perspective and Lee looks like the bad guy in this one. No he doesn't Lee was the first one to throw a punch. if there was nothing racial said, it's Lee's fault, plain and simple. Go cheer for the Padres. It has nothing to do with cheering for the Padres. I want the Cubs to win, but I'm not watching the game with my Cubs blinders on. The visual evidence is pointing toward Lee starting the fight without any significant verbal provocation. Jumping to such conclusions based on limited lip reading angles does not make you objective.
  6. why are you so intent in defending young? I'm not defending Young, I'm just looking at it from an objective perspective and Lee looks like the bad guy in this one. Not really.
  7. At least he got Cy Young out of the game.
  8. Jam, I will not argue with you if you are going to be this irrational. Comparing bitch to the n-word is a joke. the word bitch is commonly used by both sexes and does not have nearly the potency as the n-word. if you didnt like the word bitch or skank then say... "please dont use that word" calling omc a misogynist is just as offensive. I as a man am completely offended by someone careless calling another person a misogynist, especially for your reason. stupid will ohman. Bitch can be used as a term of affection, same as the n-word. I get it, I have no problem with that. In this case it was used as a gender-specific derogatory slur. And a slur is a slur is a slur. Poll the females on this site and see how they feel about his usuage. Take the feminism rally to rants. This is the game thread. Amen. I'm getting the feeling we need a new rally skank now though. The one's we got stopped working.
  9. I don't feel like staying up until 1am to see the Cubs lose. WIN THE GAME HERE PLZ K THX.
  10. kicked out for being too cool plz dont tell me it was retaliation for the soriano beaning (or so the ump would say) wow... The ump was miked for ESPN and yes, that is essentially what he said. He told Lou that he knew Lilly hit him on purpose because he "knew it was coming".
  11. That's Wuertz's face? I don't see it I could never figure out who that was supposed to be.
  12. He was taken out because of a contusion on his left hand. Got it when he was hit by Lilly in the 1st inning. [expletive]. It was well enough to clock Fontenot in the nose with it. That being said I think we should hit Fontenot in the face before every game if this is the result. Good idea. Reminds of the one defensive tackle for the Jaguars who has one of the training staff smack him in the face before every game. :)
  13. Rangers lead 3-2 over the Brewers. 8-)
  14. I'll take a RBI triple as partial retribution. :D
  15. Wouldn't it be nice if Renteria suffered some kind of season ending fracture in his hand/wrist on that slide in the first inning? I know, not bloody likely. :?
  16. It's a good feeling to finally be gaining some ground on the Brew Crew. 8-)
  17. And a 1/2 game picked up on the Brewers. :D
  18. Give Alan a lifetime contract and the keys to the city NOW.
  19. Haha, I thought the exact same thing when I saw that.
  20. Not bad. Nothing beats a good manager meltdown.
