  1. I am pondering making an emotional investment in the Blackhawks again. I've never been a huge hockey fan but I enjoyed the teams of the early 90's with Roenick and Belfour. If nothing else, this team is fun. Very near the highest scoring in the league. Interesting. What was difficult for me was that growing up at home with parents, they had no cable or dish. So when the Blackhawks were good, I hardly ever got to see them play. I'd catch some games on the radio, that was about it. By the time I got to college and had cable for the first time, the franchise had started to swirl down the drain. :banghead: I do enjoy some NHL playoff hockey but man, every year I think "it sure would be nice if the Hawks had a team again". Well here it is I guess! And now I have HD channels on the dish, perfect. I just tuned in this game. \:D/

  3. I like Sammy but he will be waiting a damn long time for that phone to ring methinks.
  4. You read my mind GB81. \:D/
  5. It isn't even possible for them to play Arizona in the 1st game. Arizona will be the 4th seed no matter what happens and the Bears will either be the 3rd seed or the 6th seed.
  6. Yeah but they thought Green Bay touched the ball and they were trying to get a touchdown out of it.......at least that is what I thought at first?
  7. A lot of wind, no kick is a sure thing amirite? :beg: edit - nevermind, need a turnover now. FUMBLE IT!
  8. hmmmmm.....what if the Giants and Panthers tie? Then the Giants would need to win next week to ensure the home field advantage. \:D/
  9. If the Giants do lose tonight, I have to believe they will not take a week off against Minnesota. Nobody wants to enter the playoffs on a losing streak. Plus they would have a bye week anyways and creating a virtual 2nd bye week by resting starters isn't a great idea. The Colts have learned that lesson in recent years. But then again I'm just a homer trying to rationalize how the Giants will try to beat Minnesota. Also while I feel good about the Bears beating Green Bay tomorrow, I just can't help but have a bad feeling about the Houston game next week. The Bears could make all these scenarios useless by laying an egg at Reliant Stadium. The Texans are definitely not a push over.
  10. It just makes my head hurt to think about how all those blown games earlier in the season are biting us now. Just winning ONE of those games would have put the Bears in control of their own fate.
  11. Conference record would favor the Vikings if both teams win out. Vikings would be 8-4 against the NFC, the Bears only 7-5.
  12. 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. 3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. 4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 5. Strength of victory. 6. Strength of schedule. 7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9. Best net points in common games. 10. Best net points in all games. 11. Best net touchdowns in all games. 12. Coin toss
  13. That is correct. The Giants clinched a first round bye when Minnesota lost today. If the Vikings had won, the Giants-Vikings game next week could have been for the bye. But not now. Only thing we can hope for is that if the Giants lose tonight that they want to get that losing streak out of their system before the playoffs start.
  14. Revisionist history. I said I was 85% sure I'd be back but that I'd consider quitting on them. And I did consider it (and I'm still considering it). But weren't you the poster who was saying he was emotionally detached from the playoffs before they even started? So why would you then quit on the Cubs? I'm confused. From what I recall you were not getting overly invested in the team's playoff results unless I misremember.
  15. The honor of giving the Lions a win is reserved for the Packers. \:D/
  16. Quote something that I'm "ignoring" and I'll gladly address it. Please. I;m not going to go through 11 pages and qutoe evrtyhing you've ignored. There are a ton of things that people have brought up that you haven't replied to. There will be like 10 posts in between yours and then you'll make one small post cherry picking a statement you want to reply too. Name one thing. If I'm truly purposely ignoring it because it's not easy or I can't speak against it, then I shouldn't be able to answer it right? Just pick one. You made a very good point, there's 11 pages of stuff here. Do you expect me to answer everybody here? This isn't even the best Cubs board I visit, so why would I spend that much time here? Why come here at all? Apparently he feels he is better than us and is gracing us with his presence. :stickman:
  17. Arizona upset Gonzaga today.
  18. They've done better than I thought. I woulda had them losing to Cornell. Northeastern too, though I still think that'll be a game. The bad news for IU is that the Big Ten's bottom looks better than expected. I had them beating Iowa in Bloomington, but after Iowa's play thus far, I'm thinking that game's more of a toss up. The other teams I thought they'd have a chance against(UM and NU) are probably the 2 most overachieving teams in the conference. Yeah the Big Ten overall looks tougher than expected. There really are not any games that I expect Indiana to win. I do think we will get 3 conference wins at home, one way or another. But I'm not expecting anything. All I can do this season is hope for the best and even then, it won't be much.
  19. IU is not a good team but hey, we can get 7 wins before Big Ten play starts. I wasn't sure if we would win 7 games all season.
  20. There ya go.
  21. Great, now the Bears will draft him. :banghead:
  22. I see similar optimism from those ranks about Bruce Weber. lol. /hijack
  23. I don't have a link at the moment but that is the story that ESPN is currently running on the Bottom Line. Option for a 5th year......Jayson Stark is the source.
