  1. Well........it took until the 9th inning of Game 2 but the hitters have had some decent AB's here. Hey......gotta build on something. Wow, really blue? That is a called 3rd strike? Butt munch
  2. lol if ward bunts.. broxton can pick it up go take a tour of chicago come back and throw to first to still get the 3rd out. I don't know, he might just freeze out of shock that he bunted.
  3. Hey Fukudome - might wanna swing the bat there you turd.
  4. Yeah because the defense would really back Harden up and the bats are smoking....oh wait. Everything is going wrong for this team. Not a great observation there.
  5. Well........the Red Sox came back from 3-0 down in a 7 game series en route to their drought breaking WS title. I'd imagine if the Cubs do pull it out somehow, we will have had to come back from a similar improbably deficit. And San Diego did it to us in 1984.....lol. We owe the West Coast one. It is not impossible but my god, the Cubs seem to have completely imploded on every front possible. I'd feel better I guess if these games were even remotely close. They won three in a row at home. I am fully aware of that, I'm just putting forth an example of a team coming back from 2-0 in a 5 game series. The Cubs are a decent road team this year and Dodger Stadium will have a few Cubs fans I'm sure. If Harden and Lilly are lights out, we can get his back to Chicago. Is this a positive? Keep on trolling.

  8. At least I found out I can get WGN 720 from the kitchen corner of my apartment so I don't have to listen to Richard Stockton.
  9. Yeah I guess according to some people the Cubs would be better off winning Game 1 and losing Game 2 than losing Game 1 and winning Game 2....why, I don't know. In either case, you head into the remainder of the series needing 2 wins in 3 games. I seriously doubt the Cubs players are going to psyche themselves out tonight by thinking ZOMG WE NEED TO WIN 3 OF 4 IMPOSSIBLE OH NOEZ. Nah, they are just going to focus on evening up the series. Then it is a best 2 of 3. Go out to LA, maybe split then come back to Wrigley for a deciding Game 5. And as has been mentioned, the Cubs could throw Zambrano on his full 4 days rest for Game 5 so it doesn't necessarily have to be Dempster again. I'd imagine that if Big Z pitches well tomorrow and the Cubs win that Lou would pitch him in Game 5 as the "hot hand" or whatever. If the Cubs do win tomorrow night, I feel good about ending the series in LA. Harden and Lilly can get it done.
  10. That right now has the potential of being the dumbest thing that I have ever heard and I have listened to my fair share of Hawk Harrelson. Unfortunately, you can put your comment on the board as he would say. It's also perfectly accurate. prove it plz http://www.fangraphs.com/liveplays.aspx?gameid=281001116 Down 3 as the home team coming up in the bottom of the 7th, the Cubs odds of winning was about 13.2%. What percentage of teams come back from down 1-0? Yes 1-0 in an impossible deficit. Completely unrelated series from the past make it so. Thank god for the ignore list.
  11. I'm glad Dick pointed out that Torre's DODGERS beat Lou's 116 win Seattle team in the playoffs. =D>
  12. Also didn't he start to call Dempster "Ron"? :-))
  13. Dick Stockton just used the word "understudy" when he meant to say "understatement"....and so it begins.
  14. I sorta see your point with basketball or hockey but football playoffs are about as random as you can get. The Dodgers are very capable of beating the Cubs 3 out of 5 so I don't think they choked or anything if it happens. I'd expect fans to still be let down by it. It will be a huge letdown for me. People may not believe me but 2003 did not end up being a huge letdown to me because that team kind of came out of nowhere. They were 51-53 at one point and then surged big time to end the season. They won the division with 87/88 wins and certainly were not widely considered favorites in the playoffs. They beat a 100+ win Atlanta team for the first playoff series win since 1908. It was a fun, unexpected ride to me. 2007 sucked a bit more.....3 game sweep and gone. But still, last year's team wasn't great by any measure. This season means more to me because the Cubs have been the best team in the NL for pretty much the entire season. We can actually sit here and say we expect to get to the World Series and not sound crazy. I know the playoffs can be cruel and the best team certainly does not always win a short series but man, that NL pennant is there for the taking and it looks so damn tantalizing. :beg:
  15. After reading all the whining on the Brewers board yesterday, really it doesn't matter what Lou does those people are going to cry about something. Personally I thought the point of making the playoffs was to win and earn your way instead of expecting other teams to lay down for you. The Brewers have blown plenty of opportunities to win games and make the whole situation be entirely in their control.
  16. Both times at Miller Park, no less. Can we use Miller Park when he has to make a start in the playoffs? \:D/
  17. Thank you Cubs for making my weekend not be a total disaster. \:D/
  18. And these two games could easily cost the Bears a trip to the playoffs. Hopefully they send the tape to the league for review. You shouldn't get a 15 yard PF when another player takes a full swing at you and all you do is wrap him up and go to the ground. Playoffs? Playoffs? The upset win over the Colts was nice but is becoming readily apparent the Bears are not playoff material in 2008. Probably another 7-9 type of team. Eh, they easily could be 3-0 right now. Sounds like the refrain of a 1-2 team. Coulda, coulda, coulda........
  19. Quit being a complete troll already. This is just stupid crap. Trolling? It is a reasonable point. This extra-curricular crap started at the very beginning of the game. Body of work, this was just the last one. The refs blew that call, and hopefully some Buc players will be suspended when that is reviewed. Go ahead and blame it on the refs but 99% of the time they never catch the first offender. It is always the response that gets flagged. Peanut has to be smarter than that, period. But whatever, go ahead and make excuses. I'm out of this thread.
  20. Yes let's overlook Kyle's poor play at times and the defense failing to stop Tampa at the end of the 4th quarter and just blame it on Peanut retaliating when he should know better. Who cares if Tampa started it, the refs NEVER see who started it. You have to realize it's OT and you are getting the ball back.....winning the damn game should be retaliation enough. I'm tired of people making excuses for the this team.
