  1. well so much for pushing us over the top, I guess Hendry would rather settle for being right around .500 and hopeing to make the playoffs instead of making a move to push us over the top. Team isn't exactly hovering around .500 anymore... check the standings you are wrong. They are yet to reach 10 over, all it takes is a 3-4 game losing streak and they are right back down there. Add a 4 or 5 game winning streak and they have the best record in the NL. Gotta look at it both ways... Having the best record in the NL, is kind of like having the best tasting poop. Id rather push us to being a top team in the Majors, but if just hopeing to make the playoffs is ok with you then thats fine. I have a little higher standards, and its right there for the taking, but instead Hendry would rather sit back and "hope". What regular-season record won the World Series last year? And it still takes two teams to make a deal. The asking prices have been ridiculous, and the Cubs don't have to give up some of those players to get a little better here or there. I know the regular season record doesnt matter once you get into the playoffs. But this offense is very susceptible to disappearing, and 1 big bat could go along way in helping that. I understand about asking prices being ridiculous, but this team could use some help. It seems like Hendry is perfectly fine with this roster, and this roster has major flaws.
  2. well so much for pushing us over the top, I guess Hendry would rather settle for being right around .500 and hopeing to make the playoffs instead of making a move to push us over the top. I see your point, but who's to say this roster can't keep pushing to more games over .500? Well the fact that we are getting no production out of C, and below league average at SS, CF, and RF, doesnt really instill alot of confidence. We had our big hot streak, and I think now its more likely to see win 3 lose 2 and vice versa the rest of the way. Win 3, lose 2 = .600 winning percentage. Just sayin... (and yes, I saw the vice-versa) Right and I know you said you seen the vice versa which would make us a .500 team give or take a few.
  3. Thanks for telling me 1 team from each league is in the WS I never would have know that without that insight. My point is Id rather not hope we are just good enough to get into the playoffs. 1 big bat in this lineup, and I feel we could be the best team in the NL, and possibly top 3-5 in the majors.

  8. So we are barely over .500 and our GM thinks we dont have any spots to improve? Well, if we dont make the playoffs this year, him doing nothing at the deadline to push us over the top, better be enough to send his ass out of Chicago.
  9. Interesting.... I wonder what roster move will occur once that becomes finalized. Bye, bye Rocky. You will not be missed.
  10. I think Detroit will be better. But they have done little to show me that they can do the 2 most important things a winning football team has to do. 1. protect the QB. 2. stop your opponent from scoring at will. The Lions' players think they will win 10 this year. Yes they do. They did add a great talent @ WR. But I'm not sure they improved at really much else, and those other pieces were terrible last year. Can one WR save you from being an otherwise bad team? I'll have to see it before I'll believe it. For the 8th year in a row.....
  11. unfortunately, almost all minor league umpiring I have seen this year, and in years past is beyond pathetic.
  12. Lou will probably decide he needs another lefty bat in there, I mean you cant have Hamels getting too comfortable facing all these righty bats.
  13. With as hot as he was hitting and how mediocre Floyd has been, he should have been playing the first game being called up. However Lou for some reason thinks Murton cant hit rightys and will only play him against lefties, even though Murton was playing, and hitting both in AAA. The one advantage Floyd has over Murton is supposed to be power, and Floyds power has been non existent except for long foul balls. Man he sure is the king of power when it comes to hitting a ball a long ways foul.
  14. He had a similar streak, which spanned 11 starts in 2003. He had a similar streak, which spanned 10 starts last season. Well after yesterdays game Z said hes never been on a roll like he is now, so thats why I said that.
  15. I just heard Zac Zaidman(sp) on WSCR. Hes the Bears reporter for the station, and he said yesterday was really awesome. He said all the Bears were eating lunch when news regarding the trade was announced, and he said the whole team was "giddy". He said the feel in camp this year is one hes never seen, and that all the Bears players were ecstatic about the deal, and the fact that Angelo is doing what he can to put this team over the top. Also he said Olsen has been spectacular so far in camp, and Rex has looked very good.
  16. Actually, two spots would need to be opened on the 40-man. Wood and Blanco are both on the 60-day DL. I understand Blanco has caught Z in the past, but hes never been on a streak like he is right now. Also I heard Lou mention "we know what are winning percentage is with Hill behind the plate" so I really think the Cubs brass will keep him up. Maybe Im wrong, and I hope Im wrong, but I dont think its a cut and dry as others
  17. thats not true
  18. Why even open the damn thread that has Murtons name in it if you have such a big damn problem with it? I think you are the one who needs to get over it, if you dont want to hear about Murton then dont open the damn thread, its that simple, so seriously get over it.
  19. I didn't think Blanco would be back until September? Did I make that up/did something change? Hes been rehabbing in Peoria now for at least a week. Also, I will be surprised if they DFA Hill just because of how Z has pitched with him catching. Not saying I believe Hill is the reason because I dont, but I think some people in the Cubs brass might think differently.
  20. I don't see why not. I wouldn't even say it's an outside chance. It's a pretty decent chance. If he's called up Thurs, there's no reason he couldn't be called in to a game on Friday. Especially since he wouldnt have thrown since Tues, Id say there is a real good chance. Imagine that, Wood relieving Zambrano wow
  21. fontenot definitely projects as a better hitter than Cedeno. I wouldn't do that at all. My opinion is that Fontenot is at least an average hitter for a second baseman. Let him play through his slump. 14 for his last 64 AB's is a pretty prolonged slump dont you think? Thats his numbers since July 1st So which is closer to the real Mike Fontenot, the one who hit .400 basically for the month of June, or the one who is hitting .218 for the month of July? Well technically he's likely to be closer to a .525 OPS than a 1.100 OPS, but that doesn't mean that either one is really representative of the type of player he is. His PECOTA projection is .260/.336/.400, which seems pretty reasonable. But, like I said, Cedeno had a .656 OPS at AAA this month, and that was in 85 ABs. Yet you're willing to give him a chance. Well I just feel that the league has made their normal adjustments after seeing a player, and its time that Fontenot makes his, and so far he hasnt. I think he should sit for a few days, and see what you can get out of Ronny, and continue to play the hot hand.
  22. thats awesome
  23. He did? I remember Theriot being benched for a few games to "get his stroke back". Thats all Im saying, is its time to find the new "hot hand" because right now its not Fontenot. Let him sit for a few days, and see if Ronny can be the "hot hand" and ride it untill its over. It seems thats all we have been doing at 2nd and SS is riding those hot hands, and right now Fontenot is ice cold.
  24. Id give more blame to the fact that Milw sucks away from home. They are below .500 since their 24-10 start, they are still living off their hot streak to start the year.
