  1. Prior, Zambrano, Clement, and Estes. The first 4 starters were the reason the Cubs got in to the playoffs for the most part. Prior was 3rd in the NL in ERA, Zambrano was 7th, Wood was 8th, and Clement was 27th. interesting, the Cubs really did get screwed by the Wood/Prior injury train and well by Clement sucking so much all of a sudden. I blame the Cardinals, the entire universe seems to be in their favor. Actually I believe Clement left as a free agent at the end of that year, and then he started sucking. Clement had some of the nastiest stuff, but he could never harness his control. I still to this day dont understand why Z or Clement werent brought in from the BP against the Marlins, and instead we used Dave Veres gahhhhhh
  2. Wood Prior Z Clement Estes?
  3. The thing is the Cubs dont need Z to be 1.5 ERA dominating. They just need him to not be what he was the first 2 months of the season 5+ ERA. If he gives the Cubs just a 3. ERA the Cubs will still win the majority of his starts.
  4. Wow nothing like completely ignoring the owner of the site.
  5. Jason Marquis stats are skewed by his ridiculous start to the season. Jason was awesome his first month to month in a half of the season, but since then he has came back to earth, and remembered he is Jason Marquis. Since the All Star Break(4 starts) Jason has a 6.75 ERA and a 1.59 Whip, thats not good. He has gotten progressively worse in every month of the season April 2.35 ERA 1.17 WHip May 3.38 ERA 1.05 Whip June 5.09 ERA 1.70 Whip and July 6.29 ERA 1.51 Whip. Now take into consideration that over the course of Marquis career he has historically been terrible in the 2nd half every year, there is definatly cause for concern. Marquis is much more likely to continue on his terrible performances, and there is a very good reason for concern regarding him. At this piont, Gallagher is a much better bet to give you better pitching than Marquis is, and the sad thing is we have Marquis for another 2 years and 14 million dollars
  6. Worst pitcher ??? Come on now. You could argue that he's our BEST pitcher !!! CUBS are 14-10 when Zambrano starts CUBS are 13-10 when Lilly starts CUBS are 14-8 when Marquis starts CUBS are 9-12 when Hill starts CUBS are 0-3 when Miller starts CUBS are 1-2 when Guzman starts CUBS are 7-6 when Marshall starts As far as Glavine goes...... how'd the last pitcher that came into our house trying for his 300th win do ??? Go CUBS !!! :bluekoolaid: Brewers almost always win when vargas starts, doesn't make him their best pitcher either. W/L record is about the 15th best stat to judge a pitcher by. Fred wasnt being serious.
  7. Yea because fighting and cursing each other out is a blast, and civilized discussions suck. If you like that type of thing I hear there is a board at http://www.cubs.com you might like
  8. hmm I know Wainwright was involved in this discussion the other day, but I just had it on the tv in the background Ok maybe Im crazy because hes not close. Anybody on the Cards staff close?
  9. I dont think so. I just heard something the other day about this. Hasnt Wainwright done the same thing?
  10. That would definitely be worth the price of admission. You know I'm there. Adults-only game threads, I might shell out for that. if Tim made an adult-only section available for Premium subscribers I bet a ton more people would sign up Yeah, saying the "F" word makes for HILARIOUSLY great fun... when I was 14.
  11. He turned down an invite from ESPN to come in the booth and discuss it.
  12. not yet, hes only tied it Yeah, but that will hopefully get less press. noway him breaking it gets less press than him tieing it
  13. not yet, hes only tied it
  14. Its only the 2nd inning, very possible he breaks it tonight.
  15. Ya it seemed odd for some reason. Hensley had a half ass smirk on his face after it went out too.
  16. Well, he couldn't be much worse than Kip Wells or Anthony Reyes have been this year. Mike Maroth says hi. 5-6 6.67 ERA 45 k 46 bb 1.79 Whip, and that was before tonights .2 innings 5 hits 5 runs 2 ER and 1 HR.
  17. Aaron Miles just had the best pitching performance for the night, enough said. The Cards gave up double digits once again, and after the 3 wins vs the Brewers last weekend, have now won 1 game since against the Pirates and the Nats. Larussa is grasping for straws so bad he hit Pinerio(the Cards SP) 8th and let Miles bat 9th. With all that said, THEY R DONE!
  18. There is always one pitcher on every team who seems to not get any run support at all. Its really weird htat it happens like that, but it does.
  19. And Miles makes a strong case to be moved to the rotation for the Cards as he got the Nats 1 2 3
  20. Sorry Aaron Miles coming in to pitch now for the Cards lol Screw you Philly
  21. Cards down by more than 10 for the 9th time this season, and now Gary Bennet is warming up...Yes Gary Bennet the catcher.
  22. Go CUBS !!! :bluekoolaid: Yea you could if you want to make a fool of yourself trying to do it. Fred whats Marquis run support compared to the rest of our pitchers? I know Hill gets the worst run support, but curious as to the others.
  23. i love the fact that when the cubs win on the brewers board EVERY SINGLE GAME cubs we're lucky. When we started winning all the close games LUCK that's all it is. that's what they would all say. I wonder if they realized how many 1 run games they were winning at the beginning of the year to get such a lead on us. thats not jut Brewers fans either. My cousin the Cards fan says every game we win we luck into its pretty comical
