I love Murton, but a baserunning guru he is not. nor is he a fielding guru True, but the problem we were having with Ward was baserunning...fielding really wasn't an issue. Yet....Cause Ward is no guru out there either. Thats basically why the guy has been a career pinch hitter. He can hit, but he cant run the bases and he cant field.

I love Murton, but a baserunning guru he is not. No hes not but if its a young kid who does the crap Ward has done twice the last week, they would be benched or sent down. You cant affort that ignorance while in Sept, and your offense is struggling.

And now Jones goes up there and doesnt swing at 1 damn strike. Every pitch was near the ground and nowhere near the zone. Damnit this team pisses me off

I dont know about that, but it does seem like every time Marquis starts we score early, only for him to come back out the next inning and give it right back up. Lets hope Marquis can maintain this lead for a bit.

What happened? Furcal fouled one off his knee pretty hard, and was down on the ground for a bit, and having trouble putting any pressure on it.

Dude, I like Murton, but lay off his jockstrap a little. Ward's been great for us this year. Ward OPS vs righties: .987 Murton OPS vs righties: .711 While I really dont have a problem with Ward starting today, Murton has shown more power than Ward this year, even against rightys, and especially since coming back up.

I'd rather throw another double header into their schedule. Nah Todd Wellemeyer will just come up and start and throw 7 innings of shutout ball. Id rather Mike Maroth get to pitch as much as possible right now, and same goes for Mulder.

Well that is one way to help stop Furcal from stealing on Kendall. I hope its not serious, but I hope he leaves this game.

Having Soto catch against a team with 2 guys that like to run like Furcal and Pierre shows me that Lou might actually have a little confidence in him. Baker would have had Lenny Harris catch instead of Soto because of that reason. Im not one of the guys who says a catchers D is the most important thing, but honestly with Kendall his non throwing ability is beyond ridiculous. Its to the point basically that if our pitchers walk somebody with just decent speed, or gives up a single, its automatically becoming a double. I know our pitchers dont hold runners on that well, but Kendalls throws havent even been close. I mean for all the talk there was of Barrets defensive shortcomings, his throwing ability was 10x's better than Kendalls. Since I know Lou is going to give Kendall ample playing time, I really think Lou needs to look at the other team and see what kind of speed they have, and determine the catcher based on that. Also, Kendall needs to be taken out of close games in the later innings. Since we have 3 catchers on our roster it makes the most sense.

Hes doing OK with the bat, but bhind the plate, not so much. He has yet to throw out a baserunner in his time with the Cubs, and that not an exaduration. Actually he has technically thrown out at least 1 and I think 2 since becoming a Cub. As for the bolded, thats awesome

starting? he's been a bargain all year. i meant that there really isn't any debate anymore When he was hitting in the .240's for the longest time he didn't look all that great, but now he's coming around and contributing. yeah, he hit .231 in May, but otherwise has been very good His 2nd half OPS is almost beginning with a 6. Hes had a good last 2 days I hope hes coming around He has the third-best OBP among Cub regulars... he may be tiring some but he's given very good production for the price. I agree I wasnt knocking him. His OPS took a big hit in August because for some reason his patience disappeared. His OBP for Aug was around .330. I hope he turns it on, he can help this team alot.

so true And the same thing can be said about alot of reactions. If Aram strikes out you dont see "You suck you idiot, etc...." but if Murton or Jones etc.... strike out its a lot different reactions. ummmm. yes you do... Umm no I dont Id like to see you find some proof instead of making crap up.
