  1. Well Izturis has about the same OPS as Theriot on the season, so its understandable. Theriot has a sub 550 OPS in September, its time for a rest
  2. How have we struggled with the Cardinals? A loss and 2 close games that ended up wins. The Cubs were 2 swings of the bat away from losing 3 games in a row to the Cardinals, thats hardly dominating. Thats really really pushing it. We have faced their ace, and a guy who has dominated everybody in the daytime. Alot of baseball games come down to 1 swing of the bat. We won 2 of 3 games so far and the one loss was a 2nd game of a DH, how often do you see a sweep in a DH?
  3. How have we struggled with the Cardinals?
  4. Theriot really needs a day off and the rest of the lineup looks pretty good. I have no problem with Cedeno playing, but there will be plenty of complaining about it, there is still 45 mins till the game
  5. Wow no bitching about Cedeno yet? That might be a record.
  6. Ha I was going to say the same thing. Marquis scares me today.
  7. On the other hand, IU is probably dedicating this season to Hep's memory and is motivated to do their best each week. IU wins. U of I by at least 10
  8. Me too and it also seems to effect them the next time out too. Well Peavy pitched on 3 days rest this month and was rocked, but his next time out he pitched a gem.
  9. Probably zero. The Cubs were winning games between Kendall and Barrett. Hill had a winning record as a catcher, by a nice margin. I'm not saying Hill gets the credit, I'm saying the team was winning regardless, so I don't see any real opportunity cost. I suppose the team wins-more in the same game, which doesn't matter at all. The entire Soto craze is way overblown. It's like a bride anticipating a dream wedding that will never happen the way its projected. Explain to me why its overblown? The guy has put up unbelievable numbers this year, at a position that has sucked for 3/4's the season for the Cubs, and you think its overblown that people want Soto to get a chance? Kendalls D is downright pathetic, and last night was prime example. He was a big cause to the implosion from Marshall. He has a 554 OPS in Sept, and if somebody reaches 1st base with decent speed against us, its an automatic double, as Kendall stands no chance at throwing out a runner. So once again, please explain to me, how its overblown, because there are plenty of reasons for Soto over Kendall, where as Kendalls 1 thing he has over Soto is meaningless(experience).
  10. Just gotta tip your cap. At least we got a split. Throw out the standings when these two teams meet. They're a tough team and we were lucky to take 2 out of the 4 in their home stadium. /bitter What is that in your sig, a crab??? Also,i missed game two last night, did kendall have a terrible game or something? I mean I'd like Soto to get more starts too, just seems like a lot of people are bitter at Kendall this morning. People are bitter at kendall because his D is starting to become a major problem on this team. Its an automatic double for anybody with decent speed who reaches 1st. Oh and add in the fact that Kendall is reverting back offensively to when he first got here(.554 OPS!in september), then yea there is going to be some bitterness about a lesser player playing over somebody who gives us a better chance to win.
  11. Soto will probably get the start. If Lou wants to do whats best for this team(which Im pretty sure he does) then that will be the case for the majority of the rest of the season. Kendalls D is just downright freaking horrible, and his bat isnt enough to make up for it. Soto offensively can either match(but more than likely be better) than Kendall, and his D is head and shoulders above Kendalls.
  12. I got some bad news for you. Lou Holtz predicted they would surprise in the Big Ten this year.. Looks like a 1-7 conference record for sure now. Want to place a wager on that?
  13. Dear Lou, Please dont play Kendall. Thanks
  14. While it was our offenses fault, Kendall didnt help Marshall much at all. Kendalls D is a huge detriment to this team, and thats coming from somebody who doesnt really believe in the whole catchers D most important crap.
  15. For me, a split kind of kills all the momentum we had built up by taking 2 of 3 in Houston, and by taking the 1st 2 of this series. I expected a split yesterday, but there is no excuse for letting Mark Mulder beat us, hes horrible right now.
  16. Hell I like catchers who can make a damn throw to first base in the air, and not help cause an implosion, I thought thats why we needed "experience" back there. Also that was a hell of a throw by Kendall to 2nd base last night. Kendall needs to be the backup. If we play a team who can steal(Cincy, Mets) Soto needs to be starting every game against them, or else they are goin to run us wild.
  17. Jesus look at those stats for our hitters against Mulder...that means we get shut out.
  18. While that is a real good thought out post CCP, Looper and Pinerio are both right handers, we face Mulder tomorrow.
  19. Tonight was the last straw for me. While the Cards not only started hitting him but Howry as well, Dempster just seem to lose his mojo after the first sign of adversity. Howry and Dempster's roles should be flipped flopped. Yea like he lost it in Houston after they had a guy on 3rd with nobody out, and we lost...oh wait we won that game. You take a lazy approach to my statement hoping to validate your angle, when in reality he lost one game and almost blew the next one (allowing a single, triple and giving up a walk - bailed out by a one-pitch grounder and two-pitch double play grounder to "win the game"). You took a kneejerk reaction, and just plain wrong thinking hoping to validate your angle, when in reality its far from being the truth. Your statement is pure BS. You have no proof to back up that at the first sign of adversity he loses it, as like I said hes handled plenty of adversity in the past quite well.
  20. i don't know much about injuries and whatnot, but this is what rotoworld said on June 8th, and it might be why the Cubs waited. So further proof the Cubs medical staff is full of jackasses So you're saying it's impossible it wasn't damaged further over the last 3 full months? And are these type of tests done by some sort of exclusive "Cubs medical staff?" I thought things like this were handled by doctors that treated players in general from around the league. I really dont see how in his very limited rehab stint he could have hurt it that much too cause the problem. To me it seems more likely the problem was there in June, and they either mis evaluated it(its happened before) or they overlooked it. My guess is the problem was there in June but was mis diagnosed, which sucks cause he loses 3 months of rehab time.

  22. Its not about getting your feelings hurt, its about showing people respect and not being an ass in 99.9% of his posts. nobody else is allowed to be an ass like he is
  23. Pat: "The game time, 2 hours and 26 minutes--" Ron: "I'll tell you, Pat, I liked the 2 hours. It was the 26 minutes that killed me." LOL and that is why I love Ron Santo
  24. Yea its never happened to guys like Rivera, etc....oh wait yes it has
