  1. Sounds like the Pitt players were pretty pissed off about the deals yesterday. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4299138
  2. HAHAHA Fielder just got caught stealing third. :-)) :-)) :-)) I think it was suppose to be a hit and run. Sounds more like the Cubs. If that was supposed to be a hit and run Ken Macha needs fired on the spot. Hit and run with runner on 2nd and nobody out in the inning? Its too outlandish to even believe it was supposed to be a hit and run. Its the only thing that made since. I was just considering Hart was swinging and there would be no reason fielder to try and straight steal third. Id say a straight steal at that point makes more sense than a hit and run with a guy on 2nd base, but both would be terrible baseball. 0 out in the inning with a runner on 2nd, you have a better chance if you would just bunt him over than if you hit and run or steal.

  4. Prince Fiedler was just caught stealing 3rd with nobody out lol
  5. but you would think that a manager would understand the strengths and weaknesses of his ballclub...if he doesn't have a bunch of fleas on his roster, he probably isn't going to want them to run wild on the base paths oh wait...going the other way? you think this is bad philosophy? really? Where did I say going the other way is a bad philosophy? Im saying the guys we have on this team are more pull type hitters outside of Theriot(until his recent power surge). Brenley has made alot of comments about bunting and running with this team we have right now, so no I dont think he would care what his roster makeup would be. Old school managers will bunt with almost anyone(see Dusty having Adam Dunn try bunting last year) and will hit and run with almost anyone.
  6. As of a few days ago they still had no idea when he'd return. Now all of a sudden it's definitely Monday against Atlanta, a week before the All Star break. Why not give him another week and a half of recovery time and start after the ASB? We know it was going to be a time thing, and that he had to work on getting it as strong as possible. I have to think another week and a half would help. Im sure the week and a half would help, and if I had to guess, the fact that we are playing Stl in a 4 game series next weekend was probably a factor. Nobody except ARam knows how he is feeling, but hes said the other day when he "let it go" he had normal soreness from like you get after lifting for the 1st time in awhile.
  7. Im assuming the 12 years is just a way to get the least amount of a cap hit right? Im not all to familiar with how the hockey cap is, but is it like the NFL where years are basically meaningless, or is it more like baseball where its guaranteed?
  8. The Dodgers have Hudson, Pierre, Furcal, Martin and others. Tampa Bay last year had Upton, Crawford, and others. Those teams are made up with good baserunners who can steal bases, the Cubs are not. If Brenley were to take over this team right now, we would run into a crap load of outs as we really have nobody on this team worth a crap at stealing, going the other way, etc... This team is made up to hit their way to score runs
  9. I really dont see this as rushing him back. When the injury 1st happened it was reported 4-8 weeks out. The injury happened May 8th, so its pretty much exactly in line with the 8 week timeframe.
  10. 12 years! Holy crap lol. espnchicago was reporting it would likely be a 1 year deal lol only off by 11 years not bad.....
  11. Baseball managers can do more harm to the team, than they can actually help the team...
  12. ARam to return Monday according to the Trib. He will be playing a 3 game rehab assignment starting Friday in......PEORIA!
  13. DeRo to have his wrist checked out as "it didnt feel right" after striking out vs Randy Johnson.
  14. Ascanio has been great vs RH hitters.
  15. I used to make everyone in the office angry whenever I made my weekly trip to Velvet Freeze for Wonder Dogs. The stench was amazing. But damn, those were some good hot dogs. If you ever find yourself in Peoria, look for a Velvet Freeze and order a half dozen Wonder Dogs. Yes, you can actually eat 6 of 'em. They are that good. Velvet Freeze is AMAZING! Best chili dog Ive ever had!
  16. Heh well Lou says 1 thing again, and then changes his mind. Lou had said Fuld would start in CF tonight with Fuku playing RF, so much for that(not that Im complaining).
  17. Go Mets, and lets hope RJ pitches like its 5 years ago.
  18. Is this the NBA Offseasn Thread? Dont know where else to put this put the Pistons fired Michael Curry today after 1 year of being their head coach. I must admit I like seeing the Pistons in disarray.
  19. He just turned 24. I'd gamble that there might be something there with Milledge all day long over what you know you're going to get with Nyjer Morgan. I suppose so. I still think Milledge ends up being nothing more than a 4th OF
  20. It would probably help him if they would have given him regular work instead of doing the normal Cubs thing of pitch 1 day, off 3, pitch another, off 2. In June Ascanio has had fairly consistent work. He's never been off more than 2 days this month and his games off in between outings have gone 2,1,1,2,0,2,2. In May it was 1,2,3,2,2. He's gotten pretty regular work. His usage is 05/28 then off till 05/31. He then didnt pitch again until 06/07 when he pitched 3 innings of really good ball. Then wasnt used till 6/11, which is understandable given he pitched 3 innings on the 7th. He then pitched 6/13, and wasnt seen again till 6/17. Then pitched on back to back days on the 20th and 21. He then pitched on the 24, and then next on the 27. Not a real consistent pattern of usage in my opinion. However regardless of the usage pattern, Ascanios numbers vs RH hitters are very damn good. Hes been hit hard by leftys, but his stuff is good. I trust him more vs RH hitters than I do Hart, Patton, or Heilman. He definately shouldnt be facing any leftys with a game on the line, but thats why you have Marshall. Ascanio deserves to be in this bullpen.
  21. I dont quite get the Milledge hype. Hes had almost 1000 ab's at the Major League level and has a .720's OPS. I understand he was a top prospect for the Mets and such, but hes done nothing in the majors to think hes going to live up to the hype. Career .326 OBP? Maybe he will prove me wrong, but from what Ive read of his personality, and what hes shown playing at the ML level, Ill pass.
  22. The Patton experiment may just be the most mind boggling thing this organization has done in quite a awhile, and thats saying something. Its ridiculous.
  23. Well seeing how Ascanio has shown the ability to get major league hitters out(right handers are hitting .200 with a .544OPS against him) Id say its safe to assume he wont. Basically Ascanio should have been facing nothing but rightys like Lou lets Marshall only face leftys. Oh wait Roogys isnt an old time baseball term like Loogy is so that cant happen. Ascanio deserves a spot in this pen over guys like Patton, Hart, and even Heilman right now.
  24. It would probably help him if they would have given him regular work instead of doing the normal Cubs thing of pitch 1 day, off 3, pitch another, off 2.
  25. WHY! Ascanio has done a decent job when hes been used, Id rather Hart be the one sent down. Im guessing this wont be for long either since Aram and Guz will be coming off the DL soon? Unless the plan is for Hart to be sent down when Guz is activated. I really dont mind Shark getting brought up IF its for the rest of the year. Quit jerking him around between starting and relieving.
