A lot of teams bunched up there, but for the Cubs to make the playoffs, they would have to play very good baseball anyways so the number of teams shouldn't be a problem. The thing that scares me right now is that the projected playoff teams are very scary. Can anyone see the Cubs winning a playoff game against Philly or LA let alone a series? We may be able to beat someone like SF or COL, but its highly likely we'd be matched up with them. I would think after last year a Cubs fan would basically ignore the reg season success when it comes to the playoffs. If we get to the playoffs we have as good as chance as anyone to win a series, let alone a game.

I also hate that Lou keeps moving Fuku around, when he has excelled in the leadoff spot. Just leave him alone.

Im getting pretty tired of this team hamstringing themselves. Lou wont play Fox because hes our backup catcher, even though Fox has been 1 of the best damn hitters on the team. Either get someone else in here to backup C, or just let Fox catch, or play them both and if something happens to Hill, move Fox in to catch. This team has played a man short basically the entire year at the expense of the offense. Its ridiculous that a team with a payroll over 120million is playing shorthanded all the damn time.

Favre with the Vikes doesnt make them the slight favorites. This isnt 25 yr old Brett Favre, its 40 yr old, coming off shoulder surgery, Brett Favre.

I like the move. His numbers vs leftys in his career are sick. We dont need him to come in here and close, we just need him to be a situational lefty so we can either move Marshall back to the rotation, or use Marshall as a full inning or 2 guy in the pen. Basically it pushes Heilman out of any important role, and gives us a back 4 in the pen of Marshall, Guzman, Marmol, and Gregg with Ryan as a loogy. That is a pretty damn good backend of the pen. Honestly with those 4 you can shorten the game to about the 6innings and feel very comfortable with those guys to finish a game.

Ive read a couple places now saying the Cubs are the leading candidate for Ryan. I wonder how fast something would get done? I would think since he cleared waivers Monday, that he would be signed pretty quickly, and sent to Iowa for a week or 2 so we can have him the majority of the 2nd half. Be a big plus if he can get even anywhere near where he has been before.
