  1. Has there been any recent speculation on Castillo, Jackson, and Wood? Have the recent injuries and Wood's latest performance changed anyone's thoughts towards him? I was the one chanting last spring that Wood wasn't any good, but I wouldn't mind opening with him as a lefty in the pen and have him around as an options or the rotation if needed.
  2. Whose also an idiot for not having Edwards in his top 50 :) And for not having Bryant #1
  3. Isringhausen, pulsipher, and Wilson. Late '90s Mets. Dusty-apocalypse Cubs.
  4. It sounds like you'll chip a tooth eating this [expletive] Think baked velveta.
  5. David Ross does not go really fast.
  6. If Baez is in AAA, why isn't Russel at 2B? Russell is declared not ready yet and La Stella gets on base alot so they keep him at 2b Not ready for 2B but you have him at 3B. Not that it matters, silly predictions and all, but yeah.
  7. If Baez is in AAA, why isn't Russel at 2B?
  8. Lots of low strike/pitch framing in that Lester video...
  9. Wrigley Fenway New Busch Coors Turner field Nationals park Old Busch GABP . . RFK stadium . . Riverfront
  10. You should not. It is less than statistical noise, really. Like with Spring Training, the assumptions that guide what data is useful are not (as) applicable, and even if it were then it would definitely have sample size problems. Better to ignore in its entirety than to try and divine narratives from any portion of it. Yeah, I know I'm just squinting really hard trying to pick out even a hint of something positive in the static. Like the scrambled spice channel when we were kids...
  11. Bingo Agreed. Not to be anti-social, but I'm here for baseball.
  12. says there right in the link that phil rogers is involved, so that would explain why it has not been posted or talked about anywhere. While I disagree with the premise, it is surprisingly well written. I kind of like referring to the last few years as the Luis Valbuena era. I personally prefer the NoBueno era. Still. Leave Bryant in Iowa a few weeks. Hurts nothing, especially if they pick up a left fielder. Gets Alcantara, Baez and Valbuena in the lineup at the same time to see if Baez can do something or if Valbuena is your second baseman for the bulk of the year and depending on the OF situation if things are shuffled there resulting in Valbuena at 3rd, FA OF in Center and Al Contra at 2nd. I don't have much hope for Baez.
  13. lol, no Uh, let me make sure I'm doing this right... Ha, yes? Obnoxious: check Contributing nothing: yup. I think I got it.
  14. Of course! But we don't have much to work with. I love that the Cubs' front office is so tight lipped, and that moves come out of nowhere, but the lack of rumors is hard. My wife and I are from the same hometown, and "coming home for Christmas" has become synonymous with perusing the latest rumors and moves by the Cubs, and actually having time to post on NSBB, but this year it's quiet. Oh well. I'd love to see them package Nobueno and Wood with Castillo and get back a solid left fielder and a slightly better Tommy LaStella.
  15. Really, really hard. Like a .400 babip hard.
  16. Before '07. No underarmor ad. What are the others?
  17. No, but he's definitely on the sauce.
  18. Doesn't seem like a priority. Could be a good bounce back candidate in second season after tjs. Hopefully he's cheap.
  19. Also saw today that the Cubs have a flexible pay schedule with Lester. Essentially each year isn't a set amount but they can defer payment some years and pay him more in current years subject to what the Cubs plan to do with the payroll that year. Supposedly it is pretty unconventional and Lester only agreed to it because of his relationship with Theo/Hoyer. And because 20 million up front.
  20. Recent high profile targets: FA: Furcal: No Bradley: Yes Pujols: No Fielder: No Sanchez: No (though talk didn't really heat up until the report that we'd signed him) Trade: Roberts: No Harden: Yes Peavy: No Granderson: No Garza: Yes And of course, Epstein: Yes The one that came to mind for me was Juan Pierre, though that was a little older. What about Pudge? Carlos Lee? Had quite a lot of discussion about Beltran after the 04 season, pretty much demanding that Hendry went after him and being pissed that it looked like he made him a token offer to appease the fan base. It's a damn shame that part of the NSBB database was lost forever. I want to go back and read the 2003 playoff game threads. Why would you want to do that to yourself?
  21. God that would be so much [expletive] fun if he did that SPOILER ALERT the cubs are not exactly kansas to boston's illinois Not that that, the other that.
  22. No matter what, he'll belong in the board hall of fame. I believe him. I do believe, I do believe, I do believe.
  23. Remember when he posted here? Wait, what? Assuming he means cotillo.
