  1. Yup. There are piece of crap athletes, Dirty Cops, slimy layers, dirtbag doctors, hypocrite preachers, pedophile teachers, sketchy grocery clerks, crooked construction workers, and call center workers that steal your identity. Abusers and drug addicts in every profession. There are people that suck and heroes in most every walk of life. We just tend to hear about the bad ones in high profile professions.
  2. Taylor Davis looks and moves like my grandfather who was born in 1939 and is also dead.
  3. This exactly. I love it when our home run hitters hit home runs. Remember those conversations in 2017 about 6 players hitting 20 home runs or whatever it was? Yeah, that.
  4. Rrrring-ningning-ningning
  5. I still get emotional.
  6. I literally had no idea this was a thing. I like to think I'm fairly up to speed with the culture, as I work with teens for a living and frequent reddit. After some cursory googling this appears to be classic 4chan making a thing that wasn't a thing, but now its definitely a thing. I don't think it's fair to expect the average fan to know its a thing. It's likely the guy knew it was a thing. That is not a typical situation to be doing the old "you looked, you get punched" game. But it is entirely possible that it was a drunk fan who is (drunk) planning to go home and ask his friend if he watched the Cubs game and then punch him.
  7. I'd bet good money this useless turd is still as prominent as he is specifically because he was Theo and co.'s first first round pick. If that's the case, then wtf is Happ in the minors? "reps"
  8. You idiots really don't understand how reverse jinxes work, do you?
  9. We've already established that this is the 20 run game.
  10. yeah sure fine I still wanted more dammit Marginal improvement is still important. If the playoffs are a "crapshoot", it's best to tilt the odds in their favor. The problem is marginal improvement doesn't translate into marginal financial gains. "We're good/great" isn't a justification for not getting better. But (maybe?) its justification for waiting until the deadline to see which needs rise to the surface. Admittedly, this does not at all fit the narrative that every game is important. It's probably just me shifting my (false?) hopes for improvement to the trade deadline.
  11. Unpopular Opinion (or not, I dunno): The way this team is playing validates Theo's perceived inactivity this offseason. I really think this team is this good and now (hopefully) has the flexibility to add at the deadline or pick up Kimbrell after the draft.
  12. Somehow, you fool!
  13. Maples ain’t but I’m buying low on the other guys I bought low on Heyward 2 years ago. That, uh, didn’t exactly work out. Nothing to do but hold on and hope.
  14. I like bat flips. I don't like whatever that was.
  15. We'll see. He could end up like Miguel Cabrera, or he could end up like Pablo Sandoval. so either an elite hall of fame career or a good career I would say this is accurate on both (both that Pablo Sandoval had a merely but clearly good career and that that is Jr's floor.)
  16. Iowa uniform looks good on him. Keep him there.
  17. This is all about Zobrist wanting to see Bote get a chance over Russell. I've heard Zobrist is not at all happy that Russell has been welcomed back.
  18. Have to have lots of off days in April if you want none in September.
  19. While I don’t agree with your overall argument, this point kind of makes the discussion irrelevant and your argument functionally true. What? How? Joe Maddon making a decision doesn’t make it the right decision. And if you can pull an above average defender for a better defender late it doesn’t make the above average defender below average. His argument is demonstrably wrong. Demonstrably wrong but functionally true if Maddon uses him in ways that minimize his defensive contributions, like DHing him and removing him late in close games. I definitely overstated the point, but he contributes less defensively if he’s not allowed to contribute defensively,
  20. The numbers say otherwise Tell that to Maddon when he takes him out late in the game for defensive reasons. While I don’t agree with your overall argument, this point kind of makes the discussion irrelevant and your argument functionally true.
  21. Because I would have traded arismendy alcantara for babe Ruth if only they had listened to me.
  22. The damage Chili Davis wrought upon KB’s swing may be irreversible. Chili Davis sounds like a name a warlock would choose if he was trying to blend in with society.
  23. He will be trading places with Happ soon.
