  1. Goaltending is overrated. Everyone says you need an elite goalie to win the Cup, but it only seems that way because their primary qualification for being an elite goalie is that you prove it by winning a Cup.
  2. Niemi's had several games that would have been considered "steals" if the Blackhawks hadn't scored too many goals. If they stop at 2 on Tuesday night, Niemi would be credited with stealing that game.
  3. From some random twitter feed: "Losing to the Habs in Game Seven: Yet another thing Sidney Crosby does more spectacularly than Alex Ovechkin."
  4. Vancouver is still two defensemen short in my opinion, after seeing them play. I guess Mitchell could be one of those two. Blackhawks are one 8-6 stretch away from winning it all.
  5. That's right up there with talking about how your team's young core will be back in the "standard things to say after your team loses a playoff series."
  6. He's completely worthless outside of this arena, so it's not like it'd be a big loss...
  7. We own Vancouver on the scoreboard *and* in their heads. Completely and thoroughly own their souls.
  8. Vancouver will be pinching like crazy. Should be some good counterattacks when you clear the zone, but clearing the zone will be hella hard.

  10. I'm tempting fate by posting this already, but ... http://imgur.com/hMm5b.jpg
  11. A study on which fanbases are least likely to get excited over good events would either be interesting or incredibly predictable. It doesn't help that we're still fighting to get to where we should be. Beating the Sharks would be the first real gain, it just feels like we're not blowing it to this point.
  12. A win percentage chart would disagree.
  13. That was *exactly* what we need from Kane on defense. Floating in passing lanes, having an active stick.
  14. you have no idea And I didn't miss that! Brouwer! Or that. I am good luck.

  16. Lost and the post-Lost reaction time are over. Thanks to both goalies for keeping me from missing anything.
  17. In summary: The entire concept of earned vs. unearned runs is stupid and needs to be done away with. Actually, just do away with errors.
  18. The run differential looked good until Saturday night's debacle. The whole point of run differential is that bad teams tend to get blown out more than good teams.
  19. Reminds me a lot of the 2002 Cubs, who were in the same boat.
  20. You're reading it wrong. He's saying that teams who need to win enough to save their coach's jobs rarely succeed, and the Bears fit that bill. He says the Cowboys did succeed under that last season, but even then it feels like they didn't because they need the Super Bowl every year, whereas most teams (like the Bears) just need to make the playoffs.
  21. It seemed like Luongo's plan to adjust to the screens was to challenge the shot from the point way, way, way out of his net, cutting off the angle. The counteradjustment is to put players to the side of him to tip pucks that are going wide, just like Toews did for our only goal.
