  1. This is the playcalling of a team that does not believe in their QB to make downfield reads
  2. That is 100% what this is. This is the playcalling of a coaching staff that doesn't think their QB can be trusted to drop back and make downfield reads
  3. "A lot better" Two passes attempted more than five yards down the field and zero touchdown drives as of 1:30 to go in the half. He looks like a good-day version of the QB he has always been. The bar is always as low as fields needs it to be.
  4. We got better quality players for the offensive line but we still value run blocking way too much
  5. He's hitting checkdowns which I guess is cool but he's hit like two passes beyond 5 yards and we have no touchdowns
  6. Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln. That td was a better read and throw than any play fields has made today
  7. Kmet committed interference as much as he was interfered with. You won't get a call if you start the hand fighting and lose to a guy half your size
  8. The second completion to Moore was what I need to see from fields. A downfield timing throw, accurate and in rhythm.
  9. They're either trying to set up for later in the game or they don't trust fields with downfield reads
  10. Lol fields looks fine and the rest of the offense is imploding
  11. The most powerful play in football is still a QB dropping back, instantly reading the defense and delivering an accurate ball.
  12. Challenge that spot. Terrible push by offensive line but he did barely get it imo
  13. Good or bad, I am beyond excited to have Justin Fields be responsible for what happens, one way or the other.
  14. The 2-1 was the best pitch to hit Tauchman will ever see in the majors.
  15. This is a really fantastic example of how the prospect industry has gotten out of control and given fans an excuse to expand into hyping some guys who really aren't worthy of being hyped. OK, you used to have the Baseball America top-100. Those are probably top prospects. Now you've got literally dozens of lists out there, and with honorable mentions you're getting well over 100 prospects deep. Several hundred guys will fit this qualification each season. And then we're talking about a guy who isn't even on those lists anymore, but he used to be. Now you're probably pushing between 300 and 500 prospects in the minors who could qualify for that description. The definition of "top" prospect is being watered down severely by fans trying to hype up their guys. Just like with Mervis, there's an obvious answer to the question "Why aren't the Cubs treating this player like the level of prospect we believe he is?"
  16. "top" prospect being used extremely loosely. The minor leagues exist to serve the needs of the major league club, not the other way around. He's here because he's a good use of the roster spot and he hasn't played because he isn't our best option for playing.
  17. NFL week 1 always has crazy results. Bears (eventually 3-14) beat the 49ers (eventually 13-4) last season in the opener.
  18. I'm gonna go out on a big limb and say he's not a 2.12 era pitcher long-term.
  19. I don't care about how reasonable a plan sounds, I care about how it performs in the objective test of competitive major league baseball seasons.. Hoyer not looking half bad by that metric right now
  20. They call them loans, but they're literally just selling a piece of himself. I wouldn't have a huge objection to the concept if they were regulated to prevent extremely one-sided deals College and pro sports leagues will stamp it out, they don't like competitors for their monopoly on exploiting young athletes.
  21. The whole point of generational talent is that there's, you know, one per generation. Most teams don't have one. I hate how sports superlatives get watered down. Y'all murdered elite in a matter of years and now generational is next.
  22. I meant both contract and prospect cost
  23. Yeah I'd probably pass. Everything about his profile screams that the market price will outweigh his contributions going forward.
  24. Cool. I wouldn't have valued the effort anyway, so we both win
