  1. Seemed likely when there was that report earlier today that he was off the market. Perfect fit for our cobbled-together outfield. If there's no trade, Soriano takes left, DeJesus takes CF with Sappelt as his vs. L caddy, and Hairston does the same for Schierholtz in right.
  2. The Cubs gave up after almost two years of begging and him telling them no. He just reminded them of that with that quote.
  3. lol, pretty much spiked the football in Ricketts' face.
  4. Delmon Young to the Phillies, pretty much shutting down the already pretty dead Soriano rumor mill.
  5. It is now day 33 since Carlos Villanueva's agreeing to terms was reported, and still not official.
  6. Everyone's a good defender in the low minors.
  7. I'm not saying I'd make the deal, but Upton is one year removed from an an fWAR equal to Castro's best two. It's not that insulting.
  8. This has pretty consistently been both the story and the obvious answer since Upton rumors popped up: Castro is too much, Baez isn't enough/doesn't interest them, and that's that. No fit.
  9. Objectively, he has some value as a backup outfielder. Heck, he has more fWAR the last two years than Schierholtz in less playing time. But I'm really tired of hearing about how fast and white he is.
  10. My ideal scenario is that one of the HS position players takes a huge leap forward, Houston passes on them in favor of the cheap strategy, and we get him.
  11. I do, too, but I hope he has adequate security.
  12. I hate sports fans.
  13. He won one of his championships up there because the Roughriders got caught with 13.
  14. You do realize that Correa was the number one talent on the board for quite a few people, right? My theory is that most of those people were repeating hype from the Astros. It sure seemed like he shot up the boards late after they decided on him.
  15. The Astros would just take some HS kid who is borderline top-5 and convince everyone he's just as good as the rest for half the cost.
  16. I'm guessing it's less than 50/50 that Rondon sticks.
  17. I'm pretty sure Schierholtz was promised playing time. If Jackson wins CF, I'd expect DeJesus or Soriano to be moved.
  18. He supposedly legitimately refuses to play for Boston.
  19. I'm pretty sure that's been known since talk of the DBacks trading him first started. He can change the list each offseason, I think. So we knew we were on last year's list, but that's the first I've heard it confirmed we are on this year's.
  20. Apparently Cubs are fourth team on the no-trade list.
  21. 13 pitchers doesn't seem remotely likely. As of right now, our non-C bench consists of Sappelt, Campana, Valbuena and pressing Clevenger into a Tyler Houston corners role. There's definitely room for LaHair there.
  22. As of right this moment, LaHair would be an upgrade over our current bench. But I'm assuming we'll fix that at some point.
  23. No one here. This is an expression of my ongoing annoyance with the general population of Cubs fans, many of whom I have seen make such statements. Not the rarified air of NSBB.
