  1. Just be like the cool kids and call 'em "specs."
  2. Marmol could be a good one year fix for them while they give Rondon the year as a set up guy. Marmol for Porcello? I'm in. *click* GM>
  3. He needs to be the Opening Day CF!
  4. The board would be even more boring than it already is if we take a "we'll just wait and see what the front office does and assume that's right" attitude. I trust them, too, of course.
  5. If 18 is not in your definition of "older" international amateur pitchers, you've completely limited the sample of high profile arms. The only two I can think of in recent years who signed at 20 or older are Paniagua and Rafael DePaula (Yankees). I would never want to intentionally limit the talent pool. Like you, I have no problem passing on high profile 16-year old Latin American pitchers. I'm ok with never signing any high-profile IFA arms.
  6. We've got 4.7 or 4.8 mill to spend and evidently there aren't that many seven figure guys as it is. We can spend 2 on the pitcher, still get one or two low seven figure position players AND still get a nice group of projectable pitchers. If the Taiwanese kid grades out as a guy that'd be a top 50ish guy in the draft, it's completely fine with me. That all seems particularly unlikely to me. The last few years have taught me to not believe anything that comes from the international amateur punditry. There will almost necessarily be more than a few seven-figure guys out there.
  7. That's the big difference for me. If there's no older pitchers like that, I'd prefer any big purchases be a position player.
  8. And a two-run double for Tony Campana. Of course.
  9. Baez airmails a throw. Dolis walks a million guys in a row. This game is stupid and I don't like it.
  10. And again. The magic swing was a lie :(
  11. DeJesus misplayed a ball in CF, where he doesn't belong. *looking for small sample justifications of things I already believe*
  12. Because he's an 18-year-old pitcher. I'd rather go for quantity over quality at that age.
  13. No interest in loading up on an 18-year-old pitcher.
  14. Brett Jackson strikes out swinging. Back to freaking out about his K rate.
  15. walk Looks like Kyle needs something else to worry about. I'm leaning toward raging that they won't give him a chance to start the year with the team.
  16. I want to believe in our supercoaches so bad. WE'll see.
  17. Plenty of time to rest a hamstring. I was far more worried about knee or ankle. That's good news.
  18. And now I'm thankful that spring training is absurdly long this year. Nonetheless, urge to panic rising.
  19. I'm gonna do it because he asked nicely, but I'd like to hear the reason. If we're going to start demanding people stop posting things that annoy us, I'll start working on my list.
  20. And Matherbridge kills the rally with a strikeout. I hate you so much.
  21. Valbuena leads off with a double. I want him to win the job, so I feel like these ST stats are suddenly quite important.
  22. Szczur with a bases-loaded walk.
