  1. I didn't even have time to get out "Camp? Why Camp?"

  3. And that's why you always leave a note play the platoon.
  4. ^turns argument to semantics, then complains about being in semantic argument
  5. Tried to drag bunt for a base hit, popped it up.
  6. Wood is going to pitch 11 shutout innings today.
  7. Vogelbach already broke into a top 100 this offseason. He won't make them all, most likely, but he'll make a few next year.
  8. Just give up trying to accumulate baserunners, Cubs, it does you no good. Just hit solo homers like you're good at.
  9. "I'll take it as true" isn't exactly getting it tattoed on your arm. It just means that it's a good working hypothesis until we have more information. And considering that it was more or less confirmed in the Tribune later that week, I don't feel particularly bad about it. The rest of your post is just a continuation of your misunderstanding of what sample size and significance thresholds are actually telling us.
  10. Wind blowing in from left should help Wood quite a bit. I think he's easily the guy I have the least confidence in from our current rotation, though I don't think he gets the boot when Garza gets back because other guys have more question marks about their ability to go a full season.
  11. I don't really think it needs to be 100% publicly financed to make more financial sense than a Wrigley renovation without public funding or new revenue streams. I don't think it makes more sense than a Wrigley renovation even with full public funding. It's just the frustration of getting worked over by the city of Chicago bubbling over. But there's no way it makes sense without full public funding, or even close.
  12. Rosemont has a $35 million/year annual budget. I'm not expert in city budgeting (though I'm wikigoogling as fast as I can), but a building project 25x that seems out of their reach.
  13. Lineups don't matter, fifth is barely less important than second, it's all cool.
  14. There's a shortage of viable ones. Until a realistically placed suburb starts waving around a blank check from a bond issue for a new stadium.
  15. We're only four out of the 2nd WC. Nothing is over.
  16. Found it: http://research.sabr.org/journals/files/SABR-National_Pastime-20.pdf The article is the first one, on page 3. It's pretty interesting.
  17. Unless those discussions have been held confidentially between a small group of people. Well, seeing as how Ricketts didn't get a dime from the city, it seems likely the threat wasn't viewed as credible.
  18. Well, this is fun. If they can finish this off and win tomorrow, I could seriously live with 6-2 on the cupcake stretch. 12-16 isn't good, but getting there from 6-14 wouldn't feel too bad.
  19. If Ricketts had the slightest intention of ever moving the team and an ounce of sense, he would have had serious exploratory talks with whatever suburbs would talk to him and kept that going while he went to the city to try to convince them to fund the renovations three years ago. Since he didn't, and the best case he had was "Please? You did it for other people. Come on, be cool," we can safely assume that he knows it's not really a viable option and his bluff would be called quickly and embarrassingly if he did more than vaguely hint at the prospect.
  20. The current money is coming from the jumbotron, increased signage, concerts and more night games. That's the *entire point* of all these negotiations. The Cubs don't have the cash to just do the renovations. They need to pay for it along the way with new revenue streams, which wouldn't exist if they were building a new stadium.
  21. oh come on there was a much better one of those since him corey patterson was a huge flop Moises Alou was a high-quality signing, but I think David might be overselling him there.
