    Being a dick and trying to drive down the price on a guy after your organized collusion has forced him to negotiate only with you isn't a loophole in this system. It's as old as the draft. It's fun, but until the deadline passes or a deal is signed, it's hard to tell how much is bluster and how much is reality.

    Astros have dropped their offer to Aiken to $3.2m, the minimum they can offer to have the pick rollover if he doesn't sign, on reportedly "significant abnormality" in his MRI.

    I am almost positive that Craig Biggio was still doing some backup catching before his full time switch to 2B. Baseball-reference says no. He went straight from catching 139 games in 1991 to zero for the rest of his career.
