Compromise: Reviews can take as long as necessary to be absolutely sure you got it right, but teams only get one challenge per year, not used up if challenge overturns the call.

The World Series is also a playoff. 30-team round robin. make the world series a one game playoff 30-team playoff, where each round is one-game but the bracket is quadruple-elimination.

Oh lord no. Guaranteed elimination games are awesome. Nobody is dying to see the Game 1 of 3 between the Angels and Royals while the whole playoffs get pushed back a week. How does adding two (maybe one) game push it back a week? It will feel like a week.

Exactly. The games are already bloated with dead time. There's no point in adding anymore when you basically gain nothing because most calls are either moot to the outcome or inconclusive on replay or both. I'm willing to endure the occasional waste of four minutes if it allows for the obviously incorrect call to be overturnable whenever it does occur. You shouldn't be. Logic* says you're wrong. (using the definition of logic previously established in this thread). Man, the Cubs went from fun to stupid really fast.

There's no point in making them more crapshooty by adding more participants in even more crapshooty situations. The playoffs being a crapshoot are a good thing.

Then it just needs to be made better, not eliminated. Eliminating it is worse. Everyone always says this but nobody has ever come up with a not-terrible implementation.

I don't hate it for any lack of tradition or anything like that. It just causes pointless 5 minute delays and half the time everybody's convinced the call was wrong even after the replay.

This ongoing complaint pre-dates Castro's existence on the team. Kaplan and his ilk were running guys out of town at a one-per-year rate there for awhile, and they mysteriously were all not white.

I saw people disagreeing with you about this on bleachernation yesterday. It's funny that people pretend there's not a double standard. I pick that fight a lot because it irks me so much. I didn't even break out the nuclear "Ron Santo was a bigger [expletive] than Carlos Zambrano" card.
