  1. They've always insisted that it would be too hard for: a) getting national TV to agree to it b) lining up hotel rooms and all that for all their corporate sponsors and media
  2. I don't care whether people like him or not. That has nothing to do with his football playing, which is what he is to me. A football player. The "living up to his potential" stuff is stupid. Assuming you mean "he's not as good overall as his arm strength," the reason is that he doesn't make good decisions as often as an elite QB needs to do. And the ability to instantaneously read the field and make a decision is just as much an inherent ability as arm strength. People have this weird, meatbally reaction to guys who are obviously talented in one area and deficient in a less visible but just as important natural ability.
  3. Football games are not personality contests. It has nothing to do with whatever lack of success you think the guy has.
  4. I made the mistake of listening to local sports radio today. I knew it'd just get me mad. They can't go three seconds without saying the word "leadership." Because every single person who covers sports in this town is a lazy idiot. It is a @#$#@$ football game, not a contest of personalities. They are losing football games because of football reasons.
  5. That is the one where I said it looked like an AI glitch earlier in the thread. Greene was sitting in the zone across the middle right where he should be for that play, and then suddenly after two seconds or so he just randomly decided to turn his back to the play and run 8 yards back to give double-team help on some guy just outside of this picture.
  6. This team's dead in the water for a playoff berth. 8-8 or maaaaybe even 9-7 is still doable with the weak second-half schedule. No NFL quality linebackers. Safeties still terrible. Defensive line and even CBs inconsistent. Exploitable holes in the offensive line. Wide receivers still dinged up. No backup RB. And honestly, I think Cutler's starting to lose it a bit. I stand by my assessment from earlier in the season: the number of missed throws per game (not bad decisions, but balls not going where he meant for them to go) is starting to creep up this year. Plus brutal ST coaching and mediocre rest-of-staff coaching. You probably need 10-6 to get to the Wild Card this year (although the tiebreaker with SF may come in handy). In order to do that, you have to sweep the "easy" games and also go 3-2 in the hard ones (@NE, @GB, @DET, DAL, DET).
  7. There are some really stupid people making really stupid arguments against Cutler, so it's easy to fall into the trap of overdefending him. He had a bad game.
  8. I hate running backs.
  9. Bad roster makeup. We keep hoping that our awesome players can cover up for the gaping roster holes, but NFL teams are good at exploiting those holes.
  10. I can't decide if that was brilliant or horrible. It worked, so brilliant I guess.
  11. Holy crap we got to the 25.
  12. This offseason, let's plug half of our holes with expensive veterans who are starting to show some wear, and ignore the other half hoping for the best.
  13. Holy crap that's a terrible call. His guys just fell.
  14. Who was the safety who missed him by four feet and can we cut him right now? Like, before the next play.
  15. We hadn't had our "LOL Safeties" moment yet...
  16. This would be a really nice time for a slip in the backfield or a holding penalty or something.
  17. He's short. He is so short.
  18. Not that he did anything wrong but I'm getting tired of seeing DJ Williams facing the wrong way.
  19. He got it. Thanks for putting the yellow line a foot too far downfield and giving me some hope, jerks.
  20. 3rd and 2 at midfield. Predicting they go deep on us.
  21. It's been a little while since we've done the old "crushing failed short-yardage conversion."
  22. At least second-half Bears never, ever look like first-half Bears.
