  1. This is going to be that internet thing where people can't accept that blame isn't indivisible and assigning it to one thing doesn't remove it from another.
  2. Allowing a lame duck gm to hang around and trade up to take a QB for the second time directly led to the last several years of mess
  3. Poles is still employed and leading the coaching search. We've already blown step 1.
  4. My dream for the off-season is that we use it to start building toward what we want to be long-term and don't just spackle over whatever holes are most apparent to try to save some face. And I want that vision to be building the best offense in the league around Caleb Williams. Obviously you'll have to sign two starting guards. Shelton isn't amazing but there's not really anything better hitting FA. Then draft OL with two of your early picks including the first, let those guys compete for jobs but don't just slot them in blindly. Rookies don't have to be day 1 starters if they aren't ready. Shake Keenan Allen's hand and wish him well, let him go back to SD. Sign a speed receiver to place outside opposite Moore, shift Odunze to the slot Release Everett, sign a better TE2, draft TE3 in the middle rounds. With one of your top 4 picks, take an RB to challenge Swift for 1a status. Also, find a veteran QB to back up and mentor Williams. We're all very impressed that you found a slightly not terrible backup in division II Poles, but we can move on. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he made it to the practice squad anyway. Oh, and let Cairo Santos go out on a high and go find a kicker who can hit the modern 55+ kicks expected of an NFL kicker. The defense can have some UDFAs or hold tryouts I guess
  5. I didn't mind like 90% of it. Every time we tried anything else the last few weeks it would end with Williams taking five sacks in one quarter. Our offensive line today was starting Larry Borom, Matt Pryor and Jake Curhan. And despite that, Williams only took one sack today, the fumbled snap to open the game. We were just trying to let Williams get to the end of the season intact, and it did the job. But surely we could have mixed in a *couple* slants before the crucial final drive.
  6. As long as we have Pace, we will have loyalty to guys like Santos
  7. Packers fans now unironically fear leaving too much time on the clock for Caleb Williams I don't care about the draft position today, but I'll change my mind when the actual draft position gets here and the top two tackles are gone by our spot
  8. Meanwhile, Bryce Young is kinda good now
  9. Pretty sure Williams just set the franchise total yards record
  10. Williams needs 132 yards today to set the bears total yards record and he's not going to get it
  11. Early in the season Williams was torching blitzes with hot reads and ever since Waldron was fired, that disappeared completely
  12. https://www.reddit.com/r/billsimmons/s/Ic4wP2GK2I https://www.reddit.com/r/detroitlions/s/nY7B0K7fpW
  13. Fun fact: Williams leads the league in sacks graded as QB fault He also leads the league in sacks graded as not QB fault He also leads the league in sacks escaped in the backfield
  14. I'm not gonna nose dive into doomerism until the actual decision is made. I'm just mapping my route
  15. Like half the foundational players you listed aren't even above-average starters at this point in their careers
  16. If you know that,.could you maybe stop doing it?
  17. This whole thing is still salvageable with an off-season of good decisions, but the decisions will be made by people who have a long history of making bad decisions.
  18. This specific guy has a long history of accurate reporting from before he went to WF, mostly in draft stuff, but he definitely has contacts
  19. If Ben Johnson wants to come here and we choose Ryan Poles over him, I give up
  20. Offensive line injuries, a few spectacular end of game failures, and then the defense completely gave up
  21. Kingsbury just got done sucking as a head coach. If it's a choice between him and defense, sure, but he's pretty low on my list of offensive guys
  22. The sacks worry me way more than the deep ball. You don't need a great deep ball to be a great QB. You do need to stop taking sacks on 11% of your dropbacks. If that's not under like 8.5% next year, concerns start to be warranted
  23. Williams could sit this coming week and he will still have a top-20 passing yards season for a rookie all-time. He's got a better qbr (if you care about that stat instead of the volume ones) than Lamar Jackson, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford or Josh Allen did as rookies. I know it's frustrating to see Jayden Daniels doing a CJ Stroud or Bo Nix being carried by his defense, but this isn't a fields or trubisky rookie year
  24. This comes back to overreacting to rookie seasons. If he still looks like this in year 2, it's justified
  25. The fact that he's taken this many hits and not relinquished any time to bagent is exactly why you shouldn't question his leadership and effort
