  1. Part of me doesn't care because he was useless for very long stretches last year, but he had some key playoff plays.
  2. Lester pitching well is really nice to see.
  3. It is not a snipe on your intelligence. I'm simply noting that several of your assertions are incorrect, and I know this as assuredly as if I were standing on a beach and you told me sand was a myth. You can be as smart or dumb as you please, I have no opinion to offer on that. I have as little interest in justifying my "young prime" ideas or flatter pitching aging curve ideas (well, not my ideas, I didn't create them) as I do in going to Facebook and explaining to people why RBIs are a bad stat. It simply is what it is, and if you disagree, no skin off my nose. If you want to present an alternative idea of Kris Bryant's future based on something besides aging curves, feel free. I would probably find it an interesting read, whether I agree or not. My guess is that you will instead try once again to try to convince me I am as awful as you believe I am, and you will say in some words that you find this post derisively laughable. I have yet to meet a person who acted this way who wasn't lashing out, self included at times, so my preemptive response is a metaphorical hug.
  4. A Sharp trade, which I agree is overdue and I'm still hoping for, wouldn't make paying Saad $6m or more any more palatable.
  5. I believe that you believe that. Not to your credit, but can't be helped.
  6. Ladd and Campbell were the only two cap casualties I thought were worth fretting over, now Saad joins them. I was looking forward to him being a fixture for a long time if he continued to develop. But in the present, we traded a 52-point winger who was responsible defensively but nothing special there, and we improved our 2nd/3rd line center situation plus added some overall forward depth. That doesn't make the title defense look one bit worse in sum, IMO.
  7. it's also the most Kyle Prediction possible. I could have predicted that his BaBip regresses to the .310s, his defense stiffens up, and the book on his swing holes gets better and he becomes a league average player.
  8. That was the plan, but Saad had to sign some kind of deal by today or else they'd be exposed to an offer sheet.
  9. Sharp-Toews-Hossa Teuvo-Anisimov-Kane Dano-Shaw-Panarin Versteeg/Bickell-Kruger-Nordstrom/Hartman/Morin That would be one of the best set of centers we've iced on opening night in the dynasty era.
  10. It can never be a lateral move at worst if you lose the best player in a trade. Oh, you are in one of those moods. Feel free to wristslash away. Eat a dick Kyle. It was stupid to call it lateral at worst. Your emotion is clouding your hockey judgment, which is usually cloudy enough on its own.
  11. It can never be a lateral move at worst if you lose the best player in a trade. Oh, you are in one of those moods. Feel free to wristslash away.
  12. Both teams can be happy. In a perfect world, Saad would be on a line with Andrew Ladd and Campbell would be our fourth D. In a cap world, losing Saad, gaining two playable centers (one of whom is quite young and talented himself) is a lateral move at worst.
  13. Plenty of what? Plenty of value. A depth center and a very talented young center.
  14. Is this really better than picks? Yes. Dano is being underrated in this thread.
  15. I'm disappointed because Saad was my favorite Hawk, but in terms of value, they got plenty and it doesn't really hurt the team.
  16. I absolutely loved Saad, but if that is what he wanted, oh well.
  17. I still don't like him and his ungainly outfieldsmanship.
  18. Espn's "rules of baseball" commercials has one for Bryce Harper talking about "rule 34."
  19. Oh, that is who you are...
  20. That one I don't recall seeing any studies on off the top of my head.
  21. I actually don't expect Bryant to improve much beyond his current level. He is already 23 and will be 24 come OD 2016. His high prospect status was always more about polish than ceiling. But given that he is playing at a 6-WAR pace, that isn't a problem.
  22. They were shut out by one of the weakest No. 1s among playoff teams last year, who happened to get hot for a month at the right time.
  23. We are like two losses away from a round of "Cubs should be sellers, 2016 was always the real goal year."
  24. The "don't invest anything if there is the slightest adversity" meme has poisoned a portion of the fan base.
