  1. Who is saying that it is? The post immediately above that one, in which believing Castro would bounce back in the second half was described as "reasonably obvious."
  2. At this point, the odds of any given Castro half-season being a total turdfest are not negligible. Nor do I agree that previous years' defensive stats represent the level his defense has been at this year. I'm not saying there is anything to be done but keep sending him out there for the moment, but I don't think this is an "lol, obviously an outlier, don't worry about it" situation." He used that up in 2013.
  3. He's probably the best option to fill in for Wada. I'm ok with Wood or jxn
  4. Is not being able to start Jacob Turner a bad thing?
  5. Killed them meaning allowed a 3 base hit with 2 outs in a 0-0 game? No. Are you watching on delay? It gets really bloody in a minute. Baxter had mesh armor under his uniform, should have been our first clue.
  6. Oh god I just realized replay could have overturned the Alou play.
  7. Yeah I'm too lazy to find the tweet (and there were many that was ripping this report apart), but if that's true, we're essentially asking for a younger Patrick Sharp, and then two more future Patrick Sharps. Place Sharp in the mystery box before you offer.
  8. Just imagine how fun it will be to face the 122-win Cardinals in the NLDS and take game 5 in St. Louis.
  9. Seems plausible. He'll be a high Babip guy, but not this high long-term.
  10. I feel like they've set this team up well for a second-half even better than the first. Deadline additions, call ups, and the pitching staff spreading the work around well should all pay off.
  11. less than you apparently? What a weird thought. i was making fun of kyle you bourgeoisie idiot I got it.
  12. Zero, but that is also how many times I thought about the front office and its performance.
  13. I know all wins count the same but man this feels big.
  14. are you actually saying that the CBA changes didn't impact the subsequent decisions made by this front office? I'm sure at some point various decisions have changed, but the overall trajectory was independent of it.
  15. Ok?
  16. I like Castro a lot too, but the parts of his performance we have to mark as outliers to get him to usefulness can't keep growing. If he finishes this year with his second below replacement in three years, it wouldn't be out of line to look for a replacement this offseason. Hopefully he takes the rest of the year and makes it moo.
  17. You are in top form today. If any CBA change was impactful, it was the restructuring of comp picks.
  18. Just the opposite. People vastly overestimate the changes of the CBA. Overslotting was never as impactful as they imagine, and especially not toward the end when so many teams were doing it.
  19. How much can you get for CF Darwin Barney?
  20. Crazy talk incoming: Maybe wait until the Cubs have won so much as a berth in the Wild Card game before giving them credit for an "extended window."
