  1. I really thought Detroit and Baltimore were the best teams in their conferences. Never mind.
  2. My concern is that Poles hasn't shown he is capable of fixing the line regardless of investment level. Nate Davis wasn't cheap.. we've spent a normal amount of draft capital on the line. My only hope is that it's a scheme/coaching issue not a personnel issue
  3. His completion percentage was pretty solid for a rookie QB.
  4. They're also pressuring because Williams can't beat them deep. The book on Daniels was to crowd the line and blitz him early in the season, until he made them stop with some absolute dime bombs over the top
  5. I would be very, very down to pick an RB in the 2nd or 3rd. It's supposed to be a good draft for it
  6. To me, Johnson is the most replacement level third string RB who ever replacement leveled. He's fine to have on the roster but I never need to go out of my way to see more of him
  7. We're not taking an RB, but if we did, I would assume we are moving Swift to his natural role of long down back, not cutting him
  8. Ben Johnson is going to go to the raiders, sign fields and fix him
  9. I would rather draft Jeantty than a defensive player
  10. Raiders beat reporters sure seem to think Johnson is going there
  11. McCarthy is competent and offensive-minded so I would have no room to complain but I'd still kind of want to
  12. I can't think of any actual downside to interviewing a bunch of people. It's good networking. But I'm mad at the Bears so I'm down to call them dumb for it.
  13. Im glad vrabel is off the board. Floor-raising defensive coach is not the play
  14. Vrabel to patriots seems to be closing in
  15. The fact that Poles is still here leads me to think the most likely outcome of anything they do this off-season is bad
  16. This thread got what it deserved
  17. He has a good gross but his net sucked because he kicked too many low, returnable punts. He was good at avoiding touchbacks but not at pinning teams deep. He was inconsistent about using the sidelines well. Even if there was a special punter, it wouldn't be him
  18. If the eventual head coach comes in and starts winning, it will be from that coach taking over personnel decisions from Poles, either formally or informally
  19. I understand casting a wide net and getting free info on how people see your organization, but we are closing in on 20 confirmed interviews. Feels a bit unwieldly
  20. The Vikings and Broncos were in cap hell this season.
  21. Poles thinks he's Moneyballing by finding undervalued talent. And I guess he is, because the draft featured in the book Moneyball mostly sucked, and all these undervalued players Poles finds keep sucking. I'm over the whole thing. I can't wait to find out which mid-round picks we burn on some random placekicker who has never played football before and can only use a dropkick.
  22. Burning two first-round picks is what gave Poles the runway to say "well garsh, we needed a slow rebuild, we were so bereft of talent and assets." True or untrue, it's why he's still here today.
  23. The drafting of Justin Fields, the hiring of Ryan Poles and the continued employment of Ryan Poles are all part of the same organizational rot.
  24. My off-season wish list: An offensive head coach who will want to significantly overhaul the roster and dilute Poles' influence Two veteran offensive linemen to stop the bleeding, two more highly drafted ones to set up long term. A fast WR to play outside and stretch out defenses Release Everett and sign a 1b TE to push Kmet for playing time Draft an RB to take over 1a from Swift
  25. Imagine not being able to admit that losing two first round picks to fill the most important position badly severely impacts a team
