what the crap? what the crap! man, murton is our poor little bastard child Marshall couldn't even make the team out of spring, Hill is out of the rotation after two starts, and Murton can't even get a call-up when Soriano is hurt. I give up. They are actively trying to lose at this point.

Short answer is no. Long answer is no. The guy is being scapegoated for the PED fiasco. He's untouchable.

Believing you can make judgments about players based on 30 PAs and start switching in so-called "hot hands" is the intellectual equivalent of trying to time the stock market.

The 2002 Cubs were 7 or 8 games under their pythagorean, and the 2003 Cubs were a bit over.The Dustyites were happy to claim those wins as his influence, before 2005 happened. It went even beyond that. Something about total bases and OBP compared to runs scored, and how they were many runs below what would be expected.

It would be awesome if you didn't have to use it for pitchers only. It'd be such an awesome badge of shame for some position player to wear. -
I think Lou has visions of Colorado in his head It's because enough is enough. And memories of games like the Mets game last year. We don't need that crap. Funny how the big meltdowns stick out, but it's harder to pin down the games you lose because your good bullpen arms are wiped out from being used excessively early in the season in non-critical situations because you were paranoid about once or twice-a-season level meltdowns.

If Wuertz can't be allowed to work out a brief slump with a four-run lead, we should just cut him or something. Wood and Marmol's arms will fall off by late July at this rate.

Someone needs to leave Pie's swing alone and give him two months of starting without being yanked after every 0-for-4. so ship him off to the D-Rays or Royals is what you're saying? Or better yet...Iowa? He doesn't deserve 2 months of sucking. Especially considering how inconsistent this line up can be as it is. How do you know he'll suck if he plays for two months straight? And with his defense, yeah, I'd be tempted to leave him in even if he did.

She's sort of flirting back. Should Patterson have had a better shot at catching that ball? He pulled off awful early.

Remember the hot beach volleyball players from the last Olympics? She was half of that team. The less hot half. I met her a few months ago, though.

Last post, then I'll let it go. Career EqA (granting the platoon difference, Murton's had about 13 percentage points more of his at-bats against lefties): Murton .276, Soriano .278 Just as there are players who are overrated by the old BA/RBI/HR metric, there are players whose skillset seems much better than it is when measured by a glance at OPS. And Soriano is that guy.

Agreed. But when the more talented player is very overrated because of his poor OBP and need to bat in a non-optimal lineup spot, the downgrade doesn't have to be significant or noticeable.

It ignores the relative value of OBP and SLG.

It probably is too much to expect him to be given 100 or so plate appearances. He needs a hot streak soon.
