Bullpen wear is often cumulative across an entire season. A day off isn't gonna change the fact that Marmol is on pace to enter the playoffs with 85 games under his belt already.

Seriously? Dead serious. Was his pitch count even at 85? But he's Jason Marquis. And it's early June, and he was pitching well before giving up two baserunners. And it's Carlos Marmol, the guy we need to not have 100 appearances on his arm going into October.

I don't like pulling Marquis here. The quick hook is gonna have our bullpen shot by mid-August. Piniella keeps complaining about his starters, but it's his own doing.

Bad news: scoreless draw. Good news: By far the best match the U.S. played in the series of friendlies. Adu had a great run, he really brings an extra element that no other player does. Tim Howard is just sick.

details please? I had to flip back to Cub game Edu got a yellow in the American half. As the play is getting ready to restart, he turns around and runs up to Mastroeni and shows him a red for no apparent reason. Mastroeni already had a yellow, so I'm guessing he forgot who he gave the yellow to.

"you got it.. now I got it... now nobody's got it." 5-3 Cardinals. The Astros with a worse inning defensively than the Cubs yesterday, and that's saying something.

2 errors by the astros this inning. i would say a huge amount of luck was involved in this inning. did you see the wild pitch? how about ty wigginton with a double play ball dropped before they scored? There's a lot of bad teams in the NL that will beat themselves, allowing the Cardinals to stay up there.
