  1. Excellent moves... Marques had figured out low-A and Patterson was a man among boys in high-A. Very interesting background with Patterson. I read his background last week on Cubs.com, I didn't know he lost two years from a line drive to the head- awful stuff... It does explain him being over aged. On his 95mph 2-seamer, is that accurate or did they mean 4-seamer? If he can throw a 95mph 2-seamer, that's wicked stuff there.
  2. Yeah, Giambrone, Martinex and Norwood weren't in the top 30 when the list was recently updated. With three top 30 prospects (Lange, Richan and Hatch) getting traded, it opened up three spots. Giambone, Martinez and Norwood are back in... What's really good about the recent update is not just the updated rankings. The scouting reports are also updated! I'm starting to like the pitching on the list. In the last couple years the Cubs have transformed the pitching prospects from a general group of soft tossers to a bunch of power arms. The top guys, and even the fringe guys, mostly project as power arms. Back to the trades. I like how the Cubs traded Lange, Richan and Hatch rather than something like Thompson, De La Cruz and Norwood. Ditch the 93mph FB guys, keep the 99mph FB guys... =D>
  3. Mekkes got wiped out, too. I tell ya, Iowa has been a graveyard for the pitching prospects this year. Every single one of them has been shredded. :(
  4. The difference this year (and it's really not an every year thing) is Underwood is doing it as a reliever. There's been a lot of discussion about how good he could be as a reliever. And, he hasn't been this good, at least not in a long time. Franklin's development is encouraging... The Cubs are building some pitching.
  5. Thanks for the info... Good stuff. There is still some legitimate hope for Lang. With Little doing well, maybe the 2017 draft wont end up a disaster.
  6. What is Lange's stuff nowadays? Just a couple years ago he was a 1st round pick in the college WS with a solid fastball, a great curve ball and a developing change up. He didn't get hurt, I don't know why his stuff backtracked? I remember talk about him being a better reliever because of his max effort on pitches, but that transition hasn't happened.
  7. Yes you are. I was thinking he might have been assigned directly to Iowa after his rehab games. He should be there sooner rather than later.
  8. Welcome to AAA baseball, Tyson (oof!)... Means nothing, we'll see how he does from here. Happ finally looking better, which is nice. I tell ya, I'm having crazy thoughts about Nico... In Iowa in two weeks, starting at 2B in Chicago in six weeks and World Series MVP in November..... :-k
  9. Alzolay's K/BB ratio is outstanding; his WHIP, too. It'll be interesting to see what he can do for Chicago this year... Hopefully he wont be a trade asset for a LH reliever.
  10. Easy answer. Amaya and Ademan.
  11. 1. Hoerner 2. Alzolay 3. Marquez 4. Amaya 5. Ademan 6. Davis 7. Jensen 8. Roederer 9. Miller 10. Abbott Alzolay gettin' done in AAA is a big plus for me... I pretty much flipped a coin at #10, could have gone a lot of different ways. I still really like Steele, but have to respects Abbott's season so far.
  12. I don't see why not... Today was another good day. He's always had good stuff, not great... I do want to know what he's doing this year to be so dominant in AA before I goo too excited about him.
  13. Another pitcher I'd like some more info is Tyson Miller... Great stuff so far.
  14. Yeah, I don't think mediocre is an accurate adjective... 30Ks in 20IP is exciting and his ERA is solid. He does need work on other stuff, like control and HRs... I think that's just gonna be the process for him this year.
  15. If he keeps pitching well, we'll get some feed back on him. Also, I imagine he'll be back in the Cubs top 30 in the next update and that should have some info. He's been an interesting prospects over the years and I've always like him... He came on as a hard thrower, but lost some speed; he changed his delivery; there's also been reports about him changing his diet, working on multiple pitches and now with his work in the lab. We'll see.
  16. Anyone have the lowdown on Trevor Clifton? Six starts in Iowa: 23 IP, 14 H, 3 ER, 9 BB, 27 SO. That's starting to look serious. The only report I saw said his FB is a little faster this year (92-95mph) and he's "tightened things up"- (whatever that means), after spending time in the Cubs pitching lab this winter.
  17. Yeah, definitely some interesting omissions. How can they miss Pereda? Liked the info on the new guys; Roederer, Davis and Gallardo... Liked the Norwood info, too. He's been extremely dominant (in a small sample size) in Iowa. With that success and his promotions to the majors, you gotta think his control and command have improved. He has closer type stuff, he could be very important. Good to see Underwood back in the top 10, he deserves it.
  18. Hudson with another excellent game.... I think he has a sub 3.00 ERA in his last ten games. In his last three games, his ERA is around. 0.65 with a WHIP under 0.95. His FB has been between 91-94mph, so that's on the uptick. I was thinking Hudson would repeat Charlotte in 2019, but he's probably headed to Tennessee next year. Rucker with a quality game, it's what he does.
  19. Well... No... A lat injury is much better than an arm injury. But whatever. You want to make stuff up to complain about, have fun... I won't waste anymore time on it.
  20. Wow, it's just one sentence, but you fit in three wrong statements- that's tough to do. 1- He wasn't "oldish" when he broke out. He was 19 or just turned 20 when he broke-out in Short season A ball. 2- No arm injury. 3- He didn't lose a year of development. He got eight starts in in AAA and very well could pitch in the fall and winter.
  21. No, nothing to imagine there. Someone said there were no glowing reports about Underwood and I simply corrected him by pointing a glowing report... Sorry that bothered you so much.
  22. Dang, there's a bunch missed stuff and hypercritical spin there... The value down for Alzaloy, Ademan, Little and Hatch?- How silly. So, Norwood is "doing it with marginal improvement or basically doing what's expected"- really? Caratini- "Value steady?"... That's actually funny- I'll just leave it at that... No reason to really get into this.
  23. What does a season ending arm injury have to do with Alzolay? The Cubs posted at least a couple statements about Alzaloy's performance in Iowa, you should check them out. For him being in Iowa, I was jacked he was there and his good stuff was dominating. Not giving guys like Underwood and Clifton credit for improved seasons is unreasonable. Heck, Underwood made his MLB debut and was respectable against the Dodgers. And, you should check yourself about not having "glowing reports". The Cubs brass issued atleast one "glowing report" about Underwood performance to start the year.
  24. That's just the ebb and flow of a normal farm system. De La Cruz and Albertos have faded, but Alzolay hasn't. He's shutdown, but no surgery. He's just as big a prospect as was to start the year. And, Marquez hasn't been the only one to step up. Underwood and Clifton have reestablished themselves as prospects, and Steele's quick return from TJS has been a nice surprise. The biggest mover is probably James Norwood, where did he come from?!? I don't remember seeing him on any prospect list with his 5+ ERA in AA. Now he's throwing 97mph heaters in the Majors with Maddon pimping at every turn.
