  1. Pearson isn't a high leverage reliever.
  2. Well, he's been hitting since 7/22 and Williams has been an excellent pitcher all year.
  3. Yeah, pitching health has been ass all year.
  4. AZ Phil had a nice post on his site that I agree with. He basically said, “put all the AVV (money) into one player”. No more dicing it up into a bunch of mediocre players. I agree. I want to see a fan trade- trading multiple assets for one upgraded player, then sign one high end asset. Ideally, if possible, I’d trade something like Hoerner, Paredes, Triantos and Alcantara for a bat/3B. Then, sign a top reliever- a real one. No more Almonte or Neris types. Upgrade the top end talent.
  5. New to message boards? One has consequences the other doesn't.
  6. All four of them are probably ready for Chicago.
  7. Yep... It's why the Bartman play wasn't interference. If touched in front of the wall, it's interference. Behind the wall, not interference.
  8. Intersting that Yesavage is #99. He's the pitcher I, and I think a lot of other Cub fans, wanted the Cubs to pick over Smith. After Horton's injury, and before his six day HR binge- lol, I rescinded that sentiment and was all in on the Smith pick. With all the crazy pitching injuries, it's so much safer to pick a bat in the 1st round.
  9. Wiggins' last two starts of the seaeson: 10IP, 4H, 1ER, 5BB, 17K. I think the hot end puts him in Tennessee to start next year. We'll see what he does in the spring.
  10. There was that six to eight week strech of dreadfull offense, too.
  11. Looking for Wesneski tonight for Iowa.
  12. Hoping his season doesn't end on Sunday. With AAA and AA going longer now, they kind of have their own "call ups" to finish the season. Tennessee has another week and the playoffs. Iowa has two more weeks. Myself, I say heck with it. I hope they throw him in at Iowa to finish out September. Kind of lightning in bottle thing... Smith at 3B and Shaw at 2B to end the year. A little preview of things to come in Chicago.
  13. Can't argue with that. Birdsell is a grinder and looks to have stuff that'll work in the majors.
  14. There's a lot of stuff going on with pitching injuries. As many injuries as ever, if not more, even with the new protocols. No doubt about that. What managers can do is avoid meaningless stress. Maxing Imanaga out with an unprecedented personal pitch count for a potential no hitter is a very easy stressor to avoid.
  15. Yeah, Mills and Imanaga are the same- lol
  16. Gray's FB is what, 2-5mph better than Hill's? That plays in the majors.
  17. Exactly. All types of stressors for pitchers that cause injury and they happen all the time. So, avoiding a meaningless stresser for the Cubs best pitcher is a good thing.
  18. If they do, they take a week off. Shota has only gone over 100 (103) once I think for the Cubs. His long term health is the most importanat thing.
  19. They got hurt by pitching too little?!?
  20. Steele, Brown, Wicks, Alzolay, Little and Horton say yah.
