  1. RCAA = ? google hasnt helped just yet....
  2. You obviously haven't seen him pitch. Felix is a very dominant pitcher and he will be remembered as one of the best pitchers in the history of the game if he doesn't get derailed with injuries. Too bad he isn't going to play in the WBC. The Mariners held him out cause they don't want him to get injured. Also, the Cy Young award is overrated. Colon's a good pitcher if healthy, but Felix is already on par with, if not better than Colon. That's scary, considering Felix is 19. As with all young pitchers, you worry about his health, but if he can avoid injury, he's going to dominate. Something funny to note...on baseball-reference.com, Colon is listed at 6'0, 185 lbs. I don't know what scale they used to weigh him when that weight was registered, but I'd have it looked at. an honest question, how does felix compare to a gooden or ankiel (or anybody that was in the bigs at that age) in minor league #'s? Here's what I was able to put together: FELIX 39 G (34 GS), 21-6, 2.72 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 263 K, 74 BB, 184 H, 218.1 IP ANKIEL (before MLB debut) 21 G (21 GS), 9-6, 2.79 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 181 K, 38 BB, 91 H, 125.2 IP GOODEN (before MLB debut) 38 G (38 GS), 24-9, 2.56 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, 384 K, 140 BB, 185 H, 269.2 IP thanks GB. that looks pretty similar to me. who are someother 19 y.o. starters not on the list?

  4. I'd look to tear up the final year of this deal and re-structure it to pay Lee something like this: 2 million signing bonus. 06: 9.5 million 07: 11 million 08: 11 million 09: 12 million 10: 14 million option with a 2 million buyout. At it's highest, it's a 5 year59.5 million deal. At it's cheapest it is 4 years, 47.5 deal. I think it's a fair deal for both sides. i think it would be highly likely that the cubs would be buying out of 2010 if this is the deal. TT is right, its a tough spot for the cubs, but we can be pretty confident that Lee will never be bad. he just may not be good enough for 5/60.
  5. yeah, we keep hearing about priors "timetable" but when the heck did he get hurt and what type of injury? this surely isnt the flu thing he had over the winter.
  6. Dark Horse: UNC. If they win out (UVA and Duke) and then win the ACC Tourney (including beating Duke again), they'd have to be considered. That said, this scenario is very unlikely to happen. I still don't think that's enough to get UNC a number 1. I think a team like Texas or even Gonzaga (I hate Gonzaga by the way) would get considered before UNC would. Or if one of Illinois or Ohio St. won the Big 10 tourney. NC has way too many taems to jump to get a 1 seed. Pitt or Tennesee winning their tourney would likely put them ahead as well. i still want no part of UNC in the tourney, though.
  7. i thought there was a whole williamson trade thread way earlier.
  8. iirc, jones didnt platoon before. was his last manager a moran too? or is there some other reason, lack of other OF options, etc.
  9. brian lawrence will be out till the all star break with a torn labrum. i would trade some young pitching for soriano, not murton though. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2344706
  10. just want to bump seth's offer.
  11. if aramis and rolen are both healthy, i bet aramis has better numbers. starting rolen there may still be justified with his d making up for small gap in offense.
  12. and it looks like he's stealing elaine's dance moves.
  13. has bagwell reported to camp? when are the 'stros position guys due at ST?
  14. imagine covering a base and you see this coming
  15. even dusty's looking a little more svelte this year
  16. You're right, McBride was awesome. I have no problem stating I was wrong when players show up who I thought wouldn't. These last two games have been the best that I've seen McBride play. Yeah, I know he was a role player for the last two seasons, but I don't know why it took him half the season before he decided to become more aggressive. He's also a much better defender this year. Great game by McBride. Props to Jamar Smith and Brian Randle, too. As for James Augustine, why hasn't he figured out that when he's not on the floor due to foul trouble he kills us? It's not necessarily the number of fouls that ticks me off it's the kind of fouls that ticks me off. It's the unnecessary fouls. I'm just glad he wasn't called for his third (which it was an offensive foul) in the early part of the second half. All I know is we better be blowing teams out by the end of the game because if it comes down to FT shooting, we might be in trouble. James Augustine is the biggest waste of talent. Ten years from now most Illinois fans will say man he had a good career, but if he would have just shown up in the championship game who knows what would have happened. Last night he was dropping passes off of his legs and out of bounds. How can you be on the verge of having 1000 career points and rebounds and do that? it was almost like he was trying to lose the championship game. i dont think he could have played any worse (grammar?) than that.
  17. nice *drops mike, bends over to pick it up, crowd groans* i did notice some redhead behind the wisconsin bench
  18. i think illinois will be down quite a bit next year. our guards will be pretty weak with frazier or brock at the point, and 2 guys who do little more than shoot open 3s at the 2 guard. we definitely will need big contributions from randle, if he's up to it. our big guys will be average, imo.
  19. hoosiers lose by 19. they will have to win some tough road games to have a chance at the title now.
  20. could he get a medical reshirt, or is it too late?
  21. FYI, this is a Cubs message board. fyi youre on my ignore list doesnt this post disprove that?? maybe i no understand ignore.
  22. My guess is Angels oe Rangers. "I want you to want me. I need you to need me. I'd love you to love me. I'm beggin' you to beg me." Vance vance, i dont understand, why the lyrics? did you lose a bet or something?
  23. Oden had 33 points, 17 boards and 6 blocks. The announcers called him the best defensive (high school) center they've ever seen. The dude is 18 and looks about 25. There ought to be an investigation. what was your impression of gordon? i should've taped it.
  24. anybody watch that highschool game on the duece tonite? i missed it, but supposedly two big recruits were playing, OSU's Oden and the junior shooting guard going to IL.
