    Hey.... last game I went to with Vance, he introduced me to Jim Hendry. I was blown away that Hendry remembered Vance !! he's got skills.

    getting hits isn't a problem with this team. hits will come and go. if you're slumping, but still good at recognizing good pitches from bad ones, you can help the team by getting on base--or, as i like to put it, not making an out. i'm sure a toolsy player that is very bad at not making outs is very "sexy" to some, but i'll take a fat, slow player with no arm that is good at not making outs. this team's problem is that it doesn't walk enough. nice BA, crappy OBP. that's why patient teams outcore us. i guess it's all in what you find "sexy"--perhaps making outs at a rapid clip makes you feel all funny inside, but not me, just angry. walks also increase pitch count. This lets you get to the other teams middle relievers, usually a teams weakness, quicker. cobs never seem to do this.

    question for fred: do you have stats on the cubs and losing games that they outhit the opponents, and vice versa?

    vance, i feel really bad for you. theres nothing worse than leaving busch in cub gear after a pathetic loss. you may have to do it 3 times in a weekend. hopefully today goes better.

    up until that point, i really thought dusty has had a pretty good year, for him. the lineup on friday was pretty decent under the circumstances. really, the use of bynum has been my only major complaint. he could've used hairston in most of those instances instead, iirc.

    scored bleacher seats for saturday late last night. not really pumped, but will bring full cub gear anyway.

    Recently watched that. Good movie. 1st time??? Yeah. Not a movie buff... But a friend on NSBB made me watch it! sounds like a good friend.
