    Honestly? I don't know. As I've said in the other thread, I don't have much free time right now. The easiest way to update it would be to get it into spreadsheet format and perhaps even have it available on line with the date last updated. I don't know when I'll have time to do that. If I can short term, I will. If not, then maybe someone can crank it out in his or her spare time. That sounds like a job for Fred. :D

    I have a hard time seeing some of those underclassmen coming back after they've boosted their stock with a final 4 run. The rumors that I'm hearing here is that they all intend to come back.

    The Cubs will travel to Peoria today as Glendon Rusch takes on the Seattle Mariners. King Felix was scheduled to pitch for the M's, but has been scratched due to shin splints and will be replaced by rookie left-hander Thomas Oldham. The game will be carried by Seattle radio KOMO so it should be available on MLBaudio for those with access to listen. According to the Cubs, Novoa should be making an appearance in today's game.

    Gaithright isn't as good as Pierre and there's no guarantees that he will be. I do think we over-paid for Pierre, but it doesn't mean I think we should have pursued Gaithright.

    Link. With Durazo and Pena both being cut loose, there are some options for teams needing a DH/1b this year. Apparently the Rangers are satisfied with Nevin/Delucci at DH.

    In fairness, I included the injury caveat when I first proposed the bet. Also, if Spivey doesn't play, that doesn't count as an injury. And unlike Vance's bet, mine only refers to Spivey, it doesn't include any other player at 2nd. I don't see what's so "weak" about this bet. Vance, do I owe you a hat if Spivey is released outright or traded (could be a very realistic possibility) or is the bet off? If he's released, I would then say that the Cubs group is more productive. If traded, we could see what he does for the new team. I'm not a stickler for rules though. And I'm not going to harass you for a hat, so you decide.

    Why? It's a spring training game. Texas was using a DH the other night when the Cubs let Zambrano hit. The result of this game is meaningless. All that matters is getting your work in. Cubs pitchers need to see some at bats, and the White Sox need to get their DH out there. I know it doesn't count in the standings but I'd like to win this game. I'd like to win to, but really it's a non-issue.

    Here's some possible targets: 1. Carlos Lee 2. Aubry Huff 3. Julio Lugo 4. Jose Guillen 5. Randy Wolf 6. Jason Schmidt 7. Moises Alou 8. Ray Durham 9. Luis Gonzalez 10.Miguel Batista 11. Tom Glavine 12. Cliff Floyd All of these are possibilites. Most of these teams from which these players come expect to be contenders, but all have issues (as the Cubs do) that could cause them to fall below expectations and be sellers in July. All of these players are nearing the end of big contracts and could be moved.

Anyone want to make me a bet I can win? I've been shopping around. With the way Spivey is hitting this spring, I think I could win this one even if Neifi is the starting secondbaseman.     The Cubs have the second match-up this spring against the White Sox as Greg Maddux faces off against Mark Buerhle. The game is on Comcast as well as WGN radio. I think it will be appropriate to quote Maddux from 2005, "Who's Mark Buerhle?"

    This question is relative. Zambrano has the most value, but to some teams like the Marlins, he's already too expensive. A lower market team will know they couldn't afford him in 2-3 years, so in some cases some teams might desire other young arms over Zambrano.

    With Bagwell going back under the knife, he could be a possibility for Houston as well.

I have my personal opinion about basketball and you have yours, that doesn't mean you have the right to start calling me names. This is a baseball website last time I checked. take basketball somewhere else. I thought it was clearly obvious that it was meant as a joke, and not a personal attack.
