  1. It's a shame that Maddux has a better approach at the plate than Neifi and Hank.
  2. I'm starting to think that game-worn Matt Murton minor league jersey was a good investment.
  3. Did anyone catch the name of the home plate umpire? Was it Randy Marsh? It's Marsh.
  4. And he gets out of the jam. Hopefully in the later innings, the umpire will give him that corner.
  5. Maddux is throwing good...just not getting the call on the corner. K to Fielder!
  6. If Maddux doesn't get that pitch on the outside called, it could be a long afternoon.
  7. Those last three pitches were being called strikes in Maddux's last start.
  8. This umpire seems to have a tighter zone than the one Sunday.
  9. .240/.349/.437/.786, Choi's career numbers Can you reasonably expect Clark to do much better? Excellent point. I'm not advocating Choi because of his days as a Cubs' prospect. Right now the firstbase options that could be acquired are as follows: Carlos Pena, Tony Clark, Choi, Miekiewiwiwitiitititz, and Hinske. None of those really look too hot.
  10. Nachos for me. I had a big lunch. BTW, great forum you started. Can you take K-Town with you?
  11. Maybe you and your Iowa friends can create a new message board. I'd even promise to register and let him ban me if they did.
  12. No, not fair enough. The rules of the board are pretty clear that you don't take shots at other posters. We're making fun of Edmonds, not you. I haven't take shots at any other posters, have I? I'm simply giving an opposing view to the Edmonds opinions. No, you're complaning that the orignal Edmonds opinion was made in the first place...ON A CUBS BOARD. So? Like I said, do you want a board with no opposition? Is that the intent? Like I said, you don't want a board where a guy posts something, and everyone else says "Yeah, you're right". What's the point of that? I think we have plenty of dissent around here. We have good discussions. What does grow weary is a Cardinal fan who mucks up threads because we made fun of his boyfriend. It's also worse when such poster decides to accuse others of being homophobic or whatever because they made fun of his boyfriend. We have other Cardinal fans here who don't feel the need to jump in these threads and act like complete douches. I lurk at Cardinal sites as well as other places. If I see someone refer to Zambrano as a "head case" I rarely will even bother to defend him. It's pointless. If I did, I certainly wouldn't do it ad naseum. If there was a discussion of best pitchers of all-time, I might offer my prespective...or even on other baseball related issues, but certainly I'd know that making disparaging remarks against the Cubs would be just part of the territory. Giving your opinion is ok. I'm glad we have differing views, and in fact I have what I'd call some pretty good relationships with some of the other Card fans here. But you seem to argue just for the sake of it and frankly it gets old. Then why participate? Aren't you fueling the fire here every bit as much as I am? I'll make you a deal. I'll stay out of such threads on all Cardinal forums and you stay out of them here. You can join them all you want on ESPN and Cubs.com. In fact, if you agree, I'll even start an Edmonds is Gay thread once a week on Cubs.com so you can argue with those folks until your heart is content.

  15. The difference in regard to Jones, is that he's been in a decline for the past three seasons. Jones' career line is 278/326/454. That wouldn't be horrible, but I think there is lots of evidence to suggest he's not going to reach those numbers. In 2003, Jones hit 304/333/464. He also had a good season in 2002. since then, he's been on a steady decline. In 2004, he hit 254/315/427. In 2005, he hit 249/319/438. There's nothing good about those numbers. When taken together along with his slow start, I think it's more than likely that this season he'll finish with numbers closer to those than his career mark which was buoyed by two good seasons in 2002-2003. Considering that 2004 and 2005 are a trend, it's likely Jones finishes with a 244/317/430 line which is unacceptably bad. At the beginning of the season, there may have been a glimmer of hope that Jones could produce closer to his career line, but after watching him recently, it just seems that the most telling stat lines for predicting Jones's performance are his most recent seasons and those are not good.
  16. Choi's rehab assignment with the Red Sox ends in five days. According to the Boston Herald, they Red Sox plan on keeping him at Pawtuckett instead of activating him. Link What sort of offer would interest Boston? Would they deal Choi for a reliever such as Wuertz?
