Personally I think that we're already seeing what we have in Cedeno -- great defense, solid average, little patience at the plate and few walks, modest pop. His comps are going to wind up being guys like Lugo, Eckstein, and *gulp* Neifi. And frankly, IMO the defense and especially the average are more likely to get worse, than the walks and power are to get better. I hope I'm wrong, but he doesn't figure to be much more than a league averageish SS. You're probably right there. If that's the case, Tejada may be a good move if we can't improve the offense in other places. On the other hand, shortstop is one place where I don't mind giving up some offense for defense, if we have offense in other places. Tejada's defense is not great now and it's only going to get worse through the life of that contract. I'm not opposed to getting Tejada. If this team was above 500 and in contention, I'd probably be in favor of the upgrade now. I just hate the idea of trading young talent for a player in a season when that move isn't likely to pay dividends when better moves for the future of the franchise may be available at a later date.
