It's not about how much is spent, it's how it is being spent. Exhibit A: Glendon Rusch- 2 years, 6 million dollars. Exhibit B: Neifi Perez- 2 years, 5 million dollars. Hendry doesn't spend the money where he should. Then he uses the surplus cash to sign replacement level players (or worse) to multi-year deals. We need a GM that understands these things and we could easily build a WS caliber team on a 95-105 million dollar payroll.

His power should translate to the big leagues, but his long swing and average plate discipline is going to get him eaten up in the big leagues. His K-rate is really bad now itself. Are his swing and plate discipline any worse than Francoer? Frenchy, if I remember correctly, had horrible plate discipline, and while he doesn't hit for a great average, his power has made him a viable major leaguer. -

While this thread is in regard to the Cardinals, I had the same thought in Houston a few weeks back. After the second game of the series, I was simply minding my business talking to a few friends, when a group of drunken Astro fans walked by and shouted "1908" several times at me. I just responded, "Yeah, I know it's been a long time, but when was the last Astros championship?" They said "It hasn't been that long." And I said, "Oh really, I wasn't aware that you had ever won the whole thing." They said, "We've only been around since 1960-something..." which I found funny since they didn't even know when the franchise began. But either way...I responded, "So you've NEVER won it all....well, I'll take 98 years to never." I just find it funny that a franchise who has never won has fans like that. Seems like they are just as futile as the Cubs until they win one. -
Hopefully, Dallas takes care of business at home and wins this thing in seven.

I just watched that play again...Wade is out of control falling with the ball, and no one touches him. Horrible! First suspending Stackhouse and then that call. Ridiculous. Crap like that is why the NBA might as well be professional wrestling.

I still watch more of the Cubs than anyone else, but my second favorite team the Rangers is drawing more and more of my attention.

I have to admit, for the first time since 2003, I've more or less have lost interest. I'm watching less and less of the games. I still keep up with them, but for the most part I make no effort to make sure that I'm watching when the games are on.
