I think it would cost a productive major leaguer as well as some prospects. The caliber of prospects would depend greatly on the caliber of the major leaguer. I think the Jays would want either Barrett or Murton from the major league roster and then one of Marshall or Marmol. Toronto may start off asking for Barrett or Murton, but they should know it's unrealistic. Quantity over quality should get the job done here. I really don't think it'd take more than Izturis, Pie, Ryu, and Aardsma. We wouldn't be giving up all that much, but it'd be upgrades across the field for them... with the only downgrade coming in the form of a top 25 prospect. But it won't get it done. Toronto doesn't have to trade him. He's signed to an affordable contract for next year and the owenership is giving them money. They plan to try to win, so they aren't selling off parts like the Marlins. Every article I read about Toronto and Wells echos that sentiment. I don't see anyway they trade Wells for Izturis, Ryu, Pie, and Aardsma. If that's the Cubs' best offer, they will hold on to him. If they are fading next July, Wells would be one of the top deadline acquistions. That's what the word is about Wells. Totonto prefers to sign him to an extension. If they can't, he may be shopped, but it will only be for an offer that Toronto likes. I can't see why, since there isn't a salary issue involved, that they would give him away for a package of maybes and not gonna bes. They will want one of the three of Murton, Barrett, or Hill. If Wells is worth that, then make the deal. Personally, I'm not so sure one year of Wells is.
