  1. While he has performed better than I thought he would, his OBP isn't as high as I hoped it would be. He's a nice complementary player. The problem is that we have too many f these types.
  2. With the loss of interest in this team and NFL Sunday, it wouldn't surprise me at all.
  3. Do they usually give it to two people? Didn't both Gallagher and Epatt win last year? They usually give separate awards to the ML pitcher & player of the year, and Gallagher & EPatt did win last year. I think Pinto & Dopirak won in '04. IIRC, they usually announce them at the same time and a bit earlier as well. The press release makes it sound like they just decided to name two pitchers as the ML players of the year instead of separating the awards. Is that a pretty good sign that our minor league positon players aren't award-worthy?
  4. I can't argue too much with the AP poll. I'd drop Texas a few spots, but other than that it looks about right.
  5. I shouldn't have won last week. I likely won't win this week. My team is going from playoff team in 05 to a stinker this year.
  6. A guy in the bleachers caught both the Jones' HR ball and Zambrano's HR ball. Lucky guy.
  7. Cedeno chases Milton from the game with a HR to Waveland. 6-0 Cubs with only one out in the first. The Cubs will be losing ground in the Fecal League standings today.
  8. And Blanco doubles to left. The Cubs are hitting Milton hard today.
  9. Jones with a 3-run HR. 4-0 Cubs in the first.
  10. Cubs start off the game with back to back singles by Pierre and Theriot.
  11. My prayers and thoughts to the Lee family. When stuff happens to your children, everything else gets put into perspective.
  12. If - and its a big if - things go right, ND could possibly have a chance to get in as a one loss team. I think this year may only see one undefeated team in OSU, WVU, or LU and all of those teams have a game or two they could easily lose. Of course its a long shot but I have to remain somewhat optimistic :D By LU I'm assuming you mean Louisville. WVU and LU still have to play each other this year so that eliminates one of them. And since you are assuming Notre Dame finishes with one loss, that means USC will lose a game. Aside from Ohio State (who I think will beat Michigan and run the table) the team(s) you are forgetting is the winner of the Auburn/Florida game. I think a one-loss Notre Dame could jump ahead of an undefeated WVU or Louisville because of the strength of schedule but they will not jump ahead of an undefeated SEC team. Well I did consider those two teams but since Florida also has Georgia, LSU and FSU and Auburn has has to play Georgia as well, if Florida can beat Auburn and either LSU, FSU, or Georgia beat Florida, my plan will work. Like it said, it is pretty unlikely but figuring out stuff like this gives me more teams to root for every weekend. One thing that would hurt ND is the decisive level of the defeat against Michigan. If Auburn loses a close game to Florida, and LSU beats Florida in a close game, while those three will have one loss, two and maybe even three of them could still end up ranked higher. I am rooting for BCS chaos right now.
  13. I'd like Bay too, but I don't believe Pittsburgh has any interest in moving him. They have him signed to an affordable contract for the forseeable future. Pie, Murton, Veal, and Marshall might be enough for Cabrera if the Fish shop him and don't get a better offer elsewhere.
  14. Oh please let the Reds want Izturis in a deal for Dunn!
  15. so, where would you rank ND after that loss today?
  16. I have no idea. But my guess is that where he wants to play will be a factor.
  17. I think Soriano will get big money, but I don't think he'll get the money a lot of people expect. My guess is it will be 5/60 or 5/64. There's not a lot of teams that can spend that kind of money. The Yankees won't have interest. Their OF is full and they have Cano at second. I don't see the Red Sox spending for him either. The Mets are the most likely, but they are already paying a lot of money to Pedro, Beltran, and Delgado. If they puruse a FA like Zito, they may not be able to give Zito 5/60 and then give Soriano that same amount. The Rangers won't pursue him. The Nationals will go after him, but I don't see them offering more than 12 million a year. The Angels could go after him, but with Kendrick at 2b, they'll be looking at him for the OF. If Soriano is set on playing second, that could be a factor. I wouldn't rule out the Dodgers either. That being said, there's a wealth of FA secondbasemen hitting the market, so teams may not get desperate for him. He'll get a big payday, but it may not be as big as many think.
  18. Clemson looking to upset Florida State.
  19. Well, like many years...once LSU has a loss, I root for BCS chaos.
  20. Nebraska with an early lead over USC. Would be interesting to see an upset here.
  21. Lots of people wanting to have babies....
