  1. I'll probably spend all my time in the autograph lines...but if I get any good info, I'll post.
  2. Are you kidding? He could walk around wearing a "cuck the fubs" t-shirt for all i care, As long as he puts up numbers and the team wins, its all good. Or he could just be cool and wear a personal favorite of mine, a "suck the fox" shirt. More than likely, he wears this shirt. http://www.solidlightco.com/photos/T2113-2.jpg
  3. Supposedly hes quiet and stays to himself, no one said he was a bad teammate that I heard. Drew is very religious. The one gripe on him is that he's been rumored to try to proseltyze (sp?) in the clubhouse.
  4. Drew, Bonds, and Schmidt. (Assuming Bonds is under 8-10 million). If not, Drew, Schmidt, and Alou (to platoon with Jacque.)
  5. Maybe getting the paperwork done on these in a hurry was a reason we didn't hear about them until now.
  6. McDonough, Please invite Sosa to this year's convention.... Link
  7. Is anyone still wanting to sell a Ramirez jersey on the cheap?
  8. I'm glad you were right. But, we reserve the right to disagree with you on all future free agent dealings, trades, signings, promotions, firings, etc.... And he reserves the right to disagree with us, in turn. ;) So, how many people went and got drunk for naught last night? going out and getting drunk is never for naught!
  9. Ok, it will be a little more fun now.
  10. Well, I could have helped you with a hook-up. I know quite a few people in re-hab.
  11. So, did this get done before the midnight deadline and just not get reported, or does he count against the number of FA we can sign?
  12. If you don't like the speeding to murdering analogy, try this one. Making a copy of someone else's CD or DVD doesn't mean you'll rob a bank or shoplift. Both are stealing, just one is a lesser offense of it.
  13. Very nice assessment. With so few resources and so many holes, it is time for the Cubs to begin a retooling. That either means locking up Zambrano or trading him. That means extending Barrett or trading him. Hendry is likely not up to that task. He has too much riding on this season.
  14. Let me begin that I wouldn't look to trade Zambrano first. However, Zambrano is a FA after this year. If the Cubs can't get him signed to an extension, and if the Cubs aren't competing for a WS this season, it would be best to trade him rather than letting him walk for nothing. I would approach him and offer him an Oswalt-like extension. If he turns that down, it's pretty apparent nothing is going to get done. At that point I'd entertain offers. I'd look for one major-league ready player, one top level prospect, and a couple of projects. I might even try to use him in a three-way deal that would net the Cubs a player like Cabrera, who is young, productive, and would be under team control longer than Zambrano.
  15. Boston has interest in Ramirez. And the Angels are already prepared to make him an offer.
  16. What's worse...if that's the best we can offer Ramirez, there will be no Soriano, no Schmidt, no Zito, no Lee, no Drew.... Look forward to Padilla, DeRosa, and GMJ as your FA signings! And what we pay for those will hamstring us for next year's FA class.
  17. I sincerely think Hendry is too nice to be an effective GM. He's too trustworthy and tries to be fair to everyone. While those are admirable qualities in many professions, they don't serve him well here. Hendry was ill-prepared because he always assumed that Ramirez wouldn't leave. He stayed with Baker too long because he wanted to "do the right thing." This also was likely why he didn't move Pierre when he should have or at least brought up Pie to play regardless of Pierre's streak. If Hendry can't get Ramirez in the fold, maybe it's time to cut him loose now.
  18. It's going to be SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun at my first Cubs Convention!
  19. The best thing the Cubs could do is to punt for 2007 and try to prepare a team for 2008. Hendry won't do this, but the FA class for 2007-2008 offseason is a much richer class. Trying to patch this season will only make the team worse in the long run. I think the Cubs first should approach Zambrano with an extension. If he declines, trade him. The haul from that trade alone might bring 2-3 high ceiling, can't-miss prospects. Secondly, I'd decide what direction to go with Barrett. If he's not extended, trade him as well. There's not much else to trade unless the Cubs could get a remarkable package for Lee as well. Free up enough money to pursue only those players that you want for 2008 and beyond and have lots of money to build a great team in 2008. It won't happen. We'll suck next year and likely for the next four after that. The only consolation is that Hendry likely will be fired by the All-Star Break.
  20. Well, I hope this will now keep Hendry apologists from bringing up the Ramirez trade as a plus in Hendry's collumn. This move cancels that one out.
  21. He won't get signed before the midnight deadline. I guess we can hope it happens after that. I'm not optimistic.
