  1. 16 straight for the Mavs!
  2. I'm not opposed to trading for Ichiro, but offering Murton, Jones, Gallagher and Marshall is too much to pay for a player that is in the last year of his contract unless that player can produce an OPS of 850 or greater. Ichiro hasn't done that in the previous two seasons. Ichiro has value, and I'd be willing to offer Jones and Gallagher or some similar package along with another mid-level prospect. Make a deal of Jones, Gallagher, and Novoa or Jones, Marshall, and Cotts or Ohman and see what happens. While I'm not opposed to trading Murton, and Ichiro is defensively is better than Murton, Murton is much more cost efficient and would be under team control for quite a few more years. Is Ichiro an improvement over Murton? Likely. Is he enough of an improvement to include Gallagher, Marshall, and Jones especially considering we'd have to re-sign Ichiro to a lucrative extension? Not even close.
  3. so?!?!?!?
  4. Take it for what it's worth. Actually, with six fantasy teams going this year, I can hardly keep up with who I have on each team.
  5. While it is nice to think about, I just don't see it happening. For the Yankees to trade him, they will want a lot of talent in return. Furthermore, we don't have a place to play him unless he shifts back to SS. Would he? I don't know. Can he? I have some doubts, but I'd love to try him there. However, I just see this as something that will be speculated on ad nauseum but will never come to fruition.
  6. I think Gallagher is ahead of Veal right now it regards to who will get a promotion first.
  7. I think Pie playing well could be part of the equation. The second part could be Soriano's play in CF. If Soriano struggles in CF, I think Pie has a huge shot to play his way on the team. If Soriano handles CF well, then I think it's much more an uphill climb, and much could depend on the play of the other outfielders.
  8. He did have a pretty nice rebound in 96, though. Yes, he did. But while the hype around him never reached Prior-proportions, it was pretty high. He had a few seasons where he met the hype, then injuries derailed him. I've always been aware that it could happen to Prior as well.
  9. Ok, apparently Cuse may have meant a different Guzman, but I didn't. Juan Guzman at age 24 came up with the Blue Jays. He started 23 games, going 10-3 with a 2.99 ERA or 144 ERA+. In 1992 at age 25, he went 15-5 with a 2.64 ERA and a 156 ERA+. At age 26, 14-3, but the ERA started to rise. Injuries began to pile up and he was never the same.
  10. I make it a point not to look much at what my guys do in the spring unless it's injury related or someone trying to win a job. Since I rarely draft guys who have to "win a job" with the exception of prospecting for closers, I don't have to worry about that too much either.
  11. My guess, the group would be ordered: Guzman, Marshall, Mateo.
  12. I've made that comparison many times over the past few seasons.
  13. If you felt he was worth drafting, you should at least wait until the end of ST before cutting him, unless you notice someone on the FA list that you're dying to pick-up.
  14. Looking at his page at the baseball cube, it appears he has played 1b, 3b, and OF. It appears he's logged the most time at third. Link. He might be a decent guy to have at Iowa in case Ramirez suffers a long term injury, but I don't see wasting a roster spot on him.
  15. We've seen Kinkade before, only we called him McClain, Restovich, Murray.
  16. holy hell...we may be better off with Wade Miller in the rotation.
  17. It doesn't appear that Prior has his good stuff.
  18. I really hope Weiters slides to us.
  19. That's a situation where you take business elsewhere and let management know why. Since I don't live in Chicago, I've never had to deal with that too much. One comparable situation I had was at a restaurant here in Louisiana last December. I went into a restaurant wearing my Dallas Cowboys hat. My guess is the waiter was a Saints fan. As I sat down, not only did he take my drink order, but informed me the Cowboys sucked. I just smiled and said, "yeah...whatever." Everytime he came to the table, he had something to say about my being a fan of the Cowboys. Now normally, I'm a decent to good tipper, but today, I left the waiter a quarter and a note that said, "Here's a tip: When waiting tables, it's best not to annoy the people you're serving." My bill was nearly $50 and this is a restaurant that I know has tip shares based on the price of the ticket. I'm pretty sure he had to pay for the right to wait on me that afternoon. Maybe he'll learn to keep his mouth shut. I don't mind a little good natured ribbing, especially from people that I consider friends, but his was quite annoying.
  20. It's roto scoring, so I'm not worried about H2H. I think I have a good chance of scoring in the top 3-4 in HR, RBI, W, K, and ERA. My WHIP will be in the mid range as will by runs and SB. SV and AVG will be in the lower half.
