  1. That is true. I think it's a catch-21 for them. They really believe that the Astros should win. They could limit the way people vote, but I think they also like reporting on the number of votes because it makes people believe that there is a lot of interest in it.
  2. Well...judging by the gain from 5:00pm yesterday to noon, I think some emails are being tossed. But keep them coming nonetheless.
  3. Fun spring time poll, or rigged poll? That's the first I've heard of them replying. Interesting.... Well, and let me add...I think Nick has taken some grief over it. I think he wants it to be all in fun and give them something to write about. On the other hand, I do think he has some resentment over the "methods" we've used to get votes. I also think he's had to deal with some ribbing within the office. The smirk I get at the front desk when I drop off votes tells me that there's some there that think what we're doing is a little funny.
  4. I blogged a bit on this topic. Link.
  5. While I'm not too concerned with the outfield right now, I'm fearful of Soriano having to cover that CF at MMP when the Cubs go to Houston.
  6. Mike, You're local right? Print out the document on the front page and circulate it to the people you know who don't care about baseball. I've had amazing luck getting them signed. Then drop them off at the News-Star.
  7. We'll go through the 3rd including compensatory picks. Is there going to be some sort of 12 or 24 hour time limit per pick? Officially, that would be nice. I hope people don't take that long. If they do, we might replace them.
  8. We'll go through the 3rd including compensatory picks.
  9. Mid day count has the Astros back in front. Link. That doesn't include the ones dropped off during the 11:00 hour, I'm sure. I think we'll move ahead again at the five o'clock count. But to be safe, be prepared to get us some more votes!
  10. Alrighty! Looks like we can begin. The people choosing for each team are located on the front page. Here's the draft order below for the first round. I'll post second round as we approach it. Please make your selection with a brief rationale or explanation. Also, once you pick, please PM the next team on the list. Ok, the Raiders are now on the clock! 1 Oakland 2 Detroit 3 Cleveland 4 Tampa Bay 5 Arizona 6 Washington 7 Minnesota 8 Atlanta (from Houston) 9 Miami 10 Houston (from Atlanta) 11 San Francisco 12 Buffalo 13 St. Louis 14 Carolina 15 Pittsburgh 16 Green Bay 17 Jacksonville 18 Cincinnati 19 Tennessee 20 N.Y. Giants 21 Denver 22 Dallas 23 Kansas City 24 New England (from Seattle) 25 N.Y. Jets 26 Philadelphia 27 New Orleans 28 New England 29 Baltimore 30 San Diego 31 Chicago 32 Indianapolis
  11. I'll give this one more day before doubling up on the Bills. If no one takes them today, we'll double up with them.
  12. A White Sox collapse coupled with a daily rant from Guillen would be priceless.
  13. Ha ha. I hope they don't pay too much attention to the area code it's faxed from, Chris. I had them write their location. Well, I at least had them write the state they were in. If they have a problem they should do a better job with the rules. You'd think these people would've made a official ballot in the newspaper that was the only vote they would accept. That way, forget limiting votes per household or name and they sell papers. I said the same thing to my wife. They should have pre-printed ballot and then team up with a local sponsor to have drop off boxes or mail-in locations. That would stop a lot of our shananigans. LOL
  14. Ha ha. I hope they don't pay too much attention to the area code it's faxed from, Chris.
  15. Yeah...it's on 4th, maybe 2-3 blocks north of Washington.
  16. If you could fold them in a large envelope, you could probably drop them off in the night slot at the News-Star. If you don't want to do that, you could try to fax them. I usually leave for work between 7:30-7:40 if you wanted to try to catch up with me in the morning.
  17. Here's the letter I made for Addison to send in.
  18. Here's another form letter for those interested. It's geared toward children.
  19. What's the rest of the national league going to do?
