  1. I'm more concerned that the six pitches seen in the sixth inning when we should have been working Harang is evidence that the effects of Dusty have not completely worn off.
  2. Why would the purchase of a team in one sport be any different than the purchase of a team in another?
  3. I found this article quite refreshing. Link.
  4. I think Cuban will have strong interest, but I agree that Colangelo is the front runner. Wouldn't any Colangelo bid be heavily leveraged and financed? Cuban and the Wolves owner are the only 2 individuals that I can see being solid. Everyone else terrifies me. I just figure Colangelo has the connections with the owners to make for a smoother transition. My guess is Colangelo would be managing partner for a larger group of investors. Don't be surprised if Steve Stone is part of such a group.

  6. Just a couple more hours for people to get their picks in before we close this one.
  7. It would take about 3-4 big pot wins to even think about it. There was one a few months back that got up to 250 million. Now, that's about a third of what is needed. If I win that one, I figure I could put together a group of investors for the other two-thirds. :lol:
  8. I'm turning up my efforts to win the lottery so I can get in on this.
  9. Potential buyers listed on ESPN.com, Colangelo would have to be considered the front runner. He has the connections and has allies with current owners. Cuban would be my best choice. George Will called TLR a genius which is enough for me not to want him.
  10. Please let Cuban buy the Cubs. He's always said if they were put up for sale, he'd be interested. This formula looks good to me. Mavs win NBA championship. Cuban moves on to his next challenge of owning theChicago Cubs.

  12. Homer! J/k Vance, I agree with a WR there and I like Bowe but I like Meachem a little more. I checked a number of sites and most had Bowe ranked higher than Meacham or Jarrett. It was down to those three, and the average ranking of the sites I checked had Bowe higher. I was just trying to give you a hard time since Bowe is from LSU, I've got no problems with the pick. I think most sites are a little down on Meachem because he's only had 1 good year, and he is not known as a very tough or physical receiver. I think he's got better physical tools and upside, but Bowe is solid as well. BTW how did he do catching the ball this year? I know that he had problems holding on to the ball in the past, but he had LASIK surgery this past offseason; did that really help him? He usually made the catches when he had to. I think he has development, but he has the size to be a very good possession reciever.

  14. With the 22nd pick, the Dallas Cowboys select Dwayne Bowe, WR LSU. With the Cowboys addressing their issues at safety by signing Ken Hamlin, they can turn their attention to the offense. With both Owens and Glenn in their mid-thirties, the Cowboys need a yound receiver. Bowe has great size and hands and is an ideal pick here.
  15. Vance didn't break any rules. Correct. The newspaper set no standard as to who could vote. If so, then we could debate. Asking for people outside the area to vote may violate the spirit of the contest, but it isn't prohibited. At least not by any statement made online or in print. I agree with Chris's statement. If they set the rules, they should follow them. There's a lot of ways they could deal with abuses. They could set the circulation area as the realm from which they will accept votes. They could require all votes to have a name and valid address included whether mailed, faxed, or emailed. They've done none of this, and I know why. They want to be able to make advertisers and the public believe there is a great interest in who they cover. The first year they held the vote, it had less than 150 votes total for all teams. Last year, when we all got involved it doubled. And now you see what happens. They like the interest it generates, but they still want a certain outcome.
  16. Is that 102 hits in 185 ABs with 204 walks? Nope...thats BA/OBP/SLG
  17. Perez hit 102/185/204 last season. Why would we want him again?
  18. AL East 1. Red Sox 2. Yankees WC 3. Blue Jays 4. Devil Rays 5. Orioles AL Central 1. Tigers 2. Indians 3. Twins 4. White Sox 5. Royals AL West 1. Rangers 2. Angels 3. A's 4. Mariners NL East 1. 19. I'm excited to see the Cubs hold up that World Series trophy in October.
  20. The best thing that could happen is for the Cubs to win the WS and then we could flood their office with mail, email, and faxes laughing about it.
  21. Ummm....shall I introduce you to--->http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2007/03/02/rvQCV6b5.jpg
  22. Sosa's line this spring: 408/.444/.816 Let's hope he can keep it up for the Rangers. Supposedly, he's going to hit fifth in the line-up.
  23. Well, I've decided to use the comment section on the online article to piss off whatever Astro fans I can. If you check the one on Wandy that they posted this morning, I've already begun.
